The protein concern for vegetarians is very over-rated!. I went vegetarian when I was 16 & that was 20 years ago! I have never had a protein related problem I promise!. Belive it or not you get protein from a lot of foods!.!.!.beans and brocoli are good ones!. The best thing you can do is eat a variety of FRESH foods; the more different foods you eat, the better your chances of getting everything you need!.

As for the bacon, I can tell you honestly that the craving for it will go away after about a solid month of no meat!. Don't beat yourself up!. Take it slow, try eliminating meats one at a time, no beef for a week, then no pork, then no poultry etc!.!.!.!.!.!.!. The less you think about it and the less pressure you put on yourself the easier it wil be!. I'd bet that after a month or two of eating no red meats, the smell of charred animal flesh and the idea of putting it in your body!.!.!.!.bacon will be the last thing you crave!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Unless you're planning on eating far too few calories to meet your energy needs or you're going to try to live off junk food, you don't need to be VERY scared that you won't get enough protein!. You don't even need to be a little scared!.

The animal foods industries have done a bang up job of brainwashing the general public into thinking their products are the end all, be all of protein sources!. But the fact of the matter is that, on a per calorie basis, brocolli has more protein than beef!. Yeah, brocolli!.

Per the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine the amount of protein you need can be calculated by multiplying your body weight in pounds by 0!.36!. In other words, probably quite a bit less than you think!.

Vegetarians get their protein from soybeans and soy foods (tofu, tempeh, edamame, soy milk, tvp, faux meats like Boca burgers,) beans and other legumes (peas, lentils, peanuts, peanut butter, chickpeas, whole grains of all types, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, dairy products and eggs!. Even vegans should have little to no issue with getting enough protein!.

If bacon is your sticking point, cut out everything else and leave the bacon in for now!. You won't be a vegetarian, of course, but you'll be doing a lot of good while you work on your bacon addiction!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are many ways to get enough protein on a vegetarian diet!. Nuts, beans, and legumes all offer protein!. Soybeans are a particularly good source of protein, and there are lots of "fake meat" soy products on the market, including soy bacon!. Just look in the freezer section of the grocery store!. If you don't want to go vegan, you can also get protein from dairy products and eggs!. You might want to take it slowly, just giving up red meat first, then chicken and fish!. Going vegetarian is easiest if it's a gradual process, but it's worth the effort because you'll feel much healthier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are thousands of vegetarians in America who all get plenty of protein!. The idea that you need meat to get protein is a popular myth started by the meat industry in order to raise sales!. In fact, the truth is quite the opposite, most Americans get more protein than they need!.

I think you should go ahead and start removing other meats from your diet, but continue to make an exception for bacon if you want!. Take things one step at a time!. You'll feel like removing bacon as well sooner or later!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I can definitley show you a video that would make you put the bacon down!.!.!.!.but you'll have to email me if you really want to see it!.
Don't worry about your protein, if you watch what your eating you could easily get enough protein in a day!. Look up a vegetarian food pyramid or google for a list of foods with protein!.
Um, as for the bacon, you might find out that you won't really miss it after a while!.!.!.I don't miss burgers or steak or anything that I thought would be hard to not eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can get protein through a lot of other things like beans, potatoes, nuts, broccoli, cauliflower, wheat bread, rice, and a lot of other things! meat is just one source! as for you loving bacon, i think that most vegetarians start off loving a type of meat!. its really easy once you have been off for a while!. i promise! i used to love chicken, and now even thinking about it disgusts me!. it might take a few weeks for you to not want it any more, but just dont eat it and please trust me, YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT AFTER YOU HAVE STOPPED!.
the way that i went into being a vegetarian was i cut back slowly!. i took me between one and two weeks!. hope this helped!. good luck!!! : )Www@FoodAQ@Com

The smell of bacon was what stopped me being a vegetarian after ten years of it!.

If bacon has that power over you now, it will always claim you back, like it did me!. It is only a matter of time!. Bacon has more willpower than you do, you weak pathetic fool!

(You're not really a weak pathetic fool, I'm only joking!. But Bacon will still win!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

1!. Bacon is SO bad for you!. You should be more worried about eating so much bacon than not getting enough protein!.
2!. Vegetarians get plenty of protein!. Cheese, yogurt, eggs, milk etc all have protein!. If you wanted to be vegan, it'd be a little more difficult, and honestly, I don't recommend veganism!.!.!.but beans, nuts, rice, and seeds still have protein!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

try fake bacon!. there's a brand called fakin bacon made with tempeh that's really good!.

protein isn't an issue at all if you're still eating eggs and dairy!. beans & lentils are also great sources of protein and they're super tasty!.

the first month or so without meat is hard but after that you don't miss it much!. fake meat helps!. try amy's meals or morningstar products!. fake chikin nuggets are super good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You know, there are bacon substitues made to taste like bacon without any meat whatsoever!. Give it a try!. You may find that there isn't a big different between the real thing and a substitue!. Substitutes were afterall made to make people miss meat less!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
