Should a good vegan avoid petroleum products in lotions, etc?!!

Question: Should a good vegan avoid petroleum products in lotions, etc!?!
just to be environmentally conscious!? Doesn't oil spills affect all the cute furry animals!? and humans as well!? Should we vegans not ride in a car or bus!? Should be live like the Amish!? (I'm not making fun of them! I think that's super!) Should we do that!? I don't know if I can give up the internet! What about you!? Should we not use mineral oil!? no pantyhose!? no cling wrap* on our veggies!? no tupperware!? I'm sincerely asking, here , please help!. Thank you!.
*Ok, So, they sell "alternative" environment friendly cling wraps in the co-op, but I mean, for the rest of the world when we shop in the normal super market!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Veganism and environmentalism are not the same thing!. Yes, the vegan diet is far more environmentally conscious than the Standard American Diet, but that doesn't mean all vegans are environmentalists (or are obligated to be!.)

And petroleum has nothing directly to do with veganism!. Lots of people (mostly non-vegans) try to insist that it's not vegan to use petroleum products because petroleum deposits are made from decayed organic matter, which may include animals!. But veganism is about reducing cruelty and exploitation; animals that have been dead for millions of years are not being treated cruelly when we drill for oil, nor are they being exploited!.

Everyone, vegan or otherwise, has to make the hard decisions about reducing their carbon footprint!. But riding on a bus is not "un-vegan!."

um that sounds super extreme!. it sounds like you are asking whether or not to become Amish!. if thats what you want to do then go do it!. if you are unsure try to ween yourself off of the computer, technology, indoor plumbing, cars, everything!.
if you are just being environmentally conscious, then GREAT!!!! thats really good of you, and i think everyone else should be too!.
dont go too extreme with everything but it is your decision after all!. GOOD LUCK!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What is a point of conscience for one person may not be for another!. There are even different points of view among vegans on such points as you just brought up!.

Personal choice!. If it is your personal conviction, then by all means follow that personal conviction!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you think so!. It is all up to you!. There is no really specific definition of veganism, so no one can tell you what to do !. If you think that you should, do, but no one will call you a "bad vegan" if you don't!.

good job being a vegan by the way!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The Amish don't live vegan lifestyles, and some of them have terrible puppy mills!. Vegan communities with special stores, etc, would be good,I think!.Then you wouldn't have to worry about these things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Uh, probably not as the Amish rely heavily on animals like draft horses and oxen for work !.

Not very vegan, those Amish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would think that should be the case!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

hmm!.!. i don't know!.!.i'm a vegan, and that does sound a bit extreme to be living like the amish!.!.haha!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
