Vegans & Veggies do you use bug repellent?!
I live in a high mosquito and deer tick populated area, so I've tried using many natural repellents, but it just won't keep the ticks away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Yes!. I contracted lyme disease several years ago, and lemme tell you it is NOT worth saving a few ticks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't, but I don't have a bug problem!. If the repellent doesn't kill them or harm them (you could probably find a harmless/natural repellent if you look in the right places), I don't see the problem!. Although there are plenty of natural repellents such as peppermint oil!. You say you've tried natural repellents and they haven't worked, but if you haven't tried peppermint oil, try it!. I can't guarantee that it will work, because I've never tried it, but it's worth a shot!. I most likely wouldn't use a standard repellent, not because I'm vegan, but because I'm not a fan of anything with chemicals!. Bottom line, If I were severely bothered by mosquitos and ticks, I would probably use one if nothing else worked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes!. Here is a good one:
Hot Humid Summer Insect Repellent
I made up this repellent for a summer in hot, humid upstate New York!. It's been my only solution to the fact that mosquitoes seem to love vegan blood!
Ingredients (use vegan versions):
3 oz water (3/8 cup)
20-30 drops citronella oil
7-10 drops eucalyptus oil
1 tablespoon dried lavender buds/flowers
Directions:
First, place the water in a little spray bottle (I use a 4 oz!. If it's bigger, multiply the recipe for that size)!. Add the two oils, close, and shake!. Now add the lavender buds, and add more water to the bottle until *almost* full!. Shake again!.
It probably benefits if you let it sit for a little bit (a day or two) to let the dried flowers soak!.
And you're ready to spray!
I used this in summer in: upstate New York, southern France, camping (CA central valley), at a farm animal sanctuary!.
Therefore, this is magic!.

Sounds strange, but I would really consider giving a call to your county to ask for suggestions from them!.
They know the area!. They have to treat the public areas!. Seems like they would know every name of everything possible that would work!.
Might be worth a quick call!.
