I really don't want to eat animals anymore but...?!

Question: I really don't want to eat animals anymore but!.!.!.!?
Vegetables literally make me gag, and I have a very hard time swallowing them!. My partents never made me eat vegetables when I was growing up and I think that might be one of the problems, I am not used to the texture of veggies!. I can only eat corn, uncooked carrots, lettuce, cucumbers without feeling disgusted by how they feel in my mouth!. I have been trying to eat as much as I can of other veggies, like steamed broccoli and cauliflower but I can't get much down before I start to gag!. Do you think if I keep trying the veggies on a daily basis that little by little I will like them!? What are some ways to make them to where I am not bothered by the texture!? I only eat turkey meat right now about one to two times a week and tuna about once a month or less!. I feel really bad about it and that I am a horrible person to the animals for eating them!. I want to quit but everytime I try to go completely veg I don't feel good because I am not eating right so I go back to the turkey and tuna!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Start off by eating the foods that you like!. Then slowly and gradually work the others in!. By the way, ignore the nay-sayers!. They're jealous that you have the will power and discipline to change your life around because you care about animals!. Keep up the fight against cruelty!Www@FoodAQ@Com

eat the vegetables you like and mix them up with other finds so you can't taste them as much!. you could also try Quorn its really nice and tastes just like meat!. make sure you eat lots of eggs because it has lots of protein in and thats what most vegetarians lack in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

iv been vegetarian for 3 years, try geting this fake burger cald a boca burger if u put a bun and stof that you would put on a normal burger it tast just like a real burger! i love them i think that there best when there girld!!!??? and try simple stof like corn or peas there realy good and try putting mealted chease on brockly its REALY good!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

you could try cutting them up in small pieces
and putting them in your meal!.
start with little bits,
and then start working up to bigger pieces!.

I think it's all about just finding a vegetarian meal
that you truly enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Keep eating them only instead of thinking "OMG vegetables gross!!!" like the idiot box tells you, savor their unique, unprocessed and natural texture that isn't like that processed crap you normally eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think if you want to become a vegetarian , you should not JUST eat vegetables, have you tryed Quorn <-- thats quite yum!.

And also it shouldnt be so much a prob if you dont that much meat Www@FoodAQ@Com

I can't believe that you think veggies are disgusting to eat, but sinking your teeth into flesh has been ok up until you started feeling guilty about the animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Then I guess you'll just have to starve to death then!.!.!.

Seriously!! Buy a vegetarian cook book!.

If you really were serious about it, you'd try a little harder than you areWww@FoodAQ@Com

you should try Chinese vegetarian food!.!.!.more variety!.!.!.delicious!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ok thenWww@FoodAQ@Com

As someone else suggested, try different cooking methods!.
try stir-fried string beans and bamboo shoots with soy and ginger
try raw veggies (bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, etc) with a tasty dip
try vegetarian fajitas - grilled peppers and onions, maybe add cheese, salsa, guacamole!?
make sure the seasoning on your veggies is something you like!.

also, vegetarians do not eat JUST veggies!. Your body needs protein (especially if you're still growing), and you need a wide range of vitamins and minerals as well!. It's totally possible to get all this in a vegetarian diet, you just have to pay attention to what you're eating!. Vegetables and grains do not provide a complete protein, so you have to combine things like rice with beans, in order to get your essential amino acids!. There are products, like Bragg's Essential Aminos, which are formulated to taste good (kind of like soy sauce), and provide complete protein from veggie sources!.
Get yourself a good vegetarian cookbook or guide, so you can learn about the nutritional needs and common nutritional deficiencies of vegetarians, and recipes that satisfy those needs!.
You may also want to look into vitamin and mineral supplements at your local health food store - one of my favorites is "greens today"

Last but not least, without getting into a theological argument!.!.!. Humans were made to be omnivores (you can tell by our teeth), however, we were also made to be able to survive on just veggies when meat is not available, and vice versa!. Thanks to advances in agriculture and nutrition, we have the choice of whether or not to eat meat!. You also have the choice, if you choose to eat meat, to buy only humanely treated animals!. Try experimenting with different techniques of cooking vegetables!. I remember growing up, I thought I hated vegetables because I disliked how my parents prepared them - steamed, boiled, or raw!. After I started cooking on my own, I've come to realize that I love roasted vegetables - it completely changes the flavor and the texture of the veggies! Here is a very easy and delicious roasted cauliflower dish:
=========
1 medium to large head cauliflower, washed
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 to 4 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees!. Trim any leaves and cut the cauliflower into quarter-inch slices!. Toss with the olive oil and salt, spread in a single layer in a baking dish and roast until it begins to brown a bit and the oil is sizzling!.

Turn the pieces once or twice and give the pan a good shake while it's roasting, about 25 minutes!.
=========
Other easy vegetables to roast are eggplant, onion, sweet potato, peppers, and brussel sprouts!.

also if you have a food processor or blender, try pureeing some vegetables into things that you *do* like - for example, I can puree kale or spinach into either chili or tomato sauce and can barely tell the difference! Www@FoodAQ@Com

The vegetables that you list are nearly good enough, though for most they will become boring!. I get by on carrots and spinach leaves daily and other things that I find at reduced cost!. I blend vegetable with yogurt, raw oatmeal or bran flakes, orange juice and I blend instead of juicing!. Most days that is all I eat but I do need a few inexpensive supplements of course and perhaps a piece of high quality bread when I am really hungary!.

It seems to be enough as I weight 225 and am 6'4" and am told that my energy and stamina are exceptional for anyone (a fact that I can clearly see!.) let alone a 50 year old!. I do have an anxiety disorder and an attention deficiet disorder so my energy is not entirely pure or even necessarily a good thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

vegetables are important to maintain a healthy diet but there are other types of foods that you can eat as a vegetarian!. fruits, grains (pasta, rice cereal), legumes and much more!. i suggest going to a local restaurant (a vegetarian restaurant would be best) and see what kind of food their menus offer to get some ideas for yourself, you can try to create your own versions of recipes at home to add variety to your diet!. it's vegetarian not vegetable-tarian, so have fun experimenting with foods that suit your new lifestyle!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know a young woman who quit eating meat that doesn't really like vegetables!. She used to be a cute little girl!. Now she's over 300 pounds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As much as I respect everyone’s views on how they nourish their bodies I have to say that to me it sounds like you are not getting the adequate nutrition!. Animals were created by god to provide us a source of supplement, meaning food!. What I am against is people killing animals for sport, or just because they think they make cute fur coats!.!.!.I am totally against that!. The thing with vegetables is you have to be creative in order to enjoy them, look up recipes online and try them!. If you do chose not to eat meat then I encourage you to take some supplements to nourish your body and to ensure you are not lacking any essential vitamins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why would you feel bad about eating an animal!? Its just the circle of life, thats just the way it is!. Are plants not alive also!. If they are then how can you make one life more important than the next!. The simple fact is you have to eat to live!. And I say dont feel bad for the animal for your time on this earth will end also!. Might as well be of some use and nourish something!. If I get eat by cannibals I wont care because I'll be dead and if their that hungry enough to eat me then I'm glad I could help them make it another couple of days!. Besides meat has nutritional value that your body needs as does plants!. Eat a variety of both but dont over eat either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
