Do you think this recipe would taste good!?
Tofu sloppy joes
Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, minced
1 pound firm or extra firm tofu, pressed
6 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp water
1 tsp chili powder
salt and pepper to taste
bread or hamburger buns
Preparation:
In a small bowl, mash the tofu with a fork until it has a crumbly consistency!.
Sautee the onion in the oil until done, about 3-5 minutes!. Add tofu and sautee another 8-10 minutes, until tofu is cooked, stirring frequently!. Reduce the heat to medium low!.
Add ketchup, water, chili powder and salt and pepper and stir well!. Allow sloppy joes to cook another 5-7 minutes, until ingredients are well mixed and hot!.
Serve on bread or hamburger buns and enjoy!
AND another question: could I use vegetable oil instead of olive oil since its only for sauteeing!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds good, but I use peanut oil, because it stands up to heat better then olive oil!.
I agree with using BBQ sauce instead of ketchup too!. If you do want to use ketchup add some more chili powder to spice it up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd double the onion and add some crushed garlic!. Some finely chopped celery would go nicely, too!. But don't expect it to taste like a real sloppy joe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Maybe!. I would prefer to use BBQ sauce versus the ketchup and seiten or TVP in place of the tofu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sounds ok!.!. Tofu usually takes on the flavours of the foods it's prepared with! I don't like ketchup though! Www@FoodAQ@Com
