Vegetarians - double standards?!

Question: Vegetarians - double standards!?
Why is it that when vegetarians cook for me I'm expected to eat a vegetarian meal and yet when i cook for them they don't eat a carnivore's meal!. Surely this is double standardsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
If you are invited to eat at a veggies house, you should NOT be made to eat what they eat, they should at least put themselves out to please the invited guests!.
I have folks coming to stay with me this week, they are veggies, I cook meals for both parties the meat eaters and the veggies, when I go to their house it is the same they provide my family and I meat/chicken/fish I do not think veggies should press their beleives on other folks, I personally hate lots of vegetarain style food I hate vegetables/pasta and oodles of sauces etc!.,
but there should be "food respect" on both side!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, dearheart, it isn't!. You see, except for low-carb devotees, almost everyone eats vegetables, right!? But many people won't eat meat for ethical reasons!. I absolutely cannot eat meat; I'll get sick!. If the idea of cooking a vegetarian meal bothers you so much, don't invite vegetarians over; take them out to dinner!. And if the idea of having to eat a meatless meal bothers you so much, don't go over to their place for dinner!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm sorry but you have to respect that a vegetarian is a vegetarian because they care about animals and by buying any animal products they are taking part in the process of using animals for food!. They do not want to touch meat because they care about these animals like they care about animals you'd have for pets like a cat or a dog,if you saw a skinned puppy, would you happily touch it and cook it!? No you wouldn't because it would sicken you!. Well this is how a vegetarian feels!. So try and have some respect for your veggie friends and do not cook for them or let them cook for you if you will not participate with them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do you feel the same way about dining with someone who keeps to the laws of kosher or has allergies or sensitivities!?Unless for health or ethical reasons you are compelled to eat meat, it's not really!. If you really want to have meat, you could bring your own!. Most vegetarians don't expect anyone to go out of their way to prepare a special meat-free dinner and enjoy what they can!. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect their dinner guests to do the same!.

Now, if the vegetarians that you know refuse to eat at your house unless you go out of your way to prepare something vegetarian especially for them, then it is definitely more of a double standard!. It's nice to accommodate others' needs, certainly, but usually vegetarians can find something to eat without any difficulty!. Sure, they might wind up eating salad and plain pasta, but it's still food, but unless you for some reason plan to put meat in absolutely everything you serve (and in that case, why would you invite a vegetarian) it really shouldn't be an issue!.

If it bothers you so much, either have a potluck or don't dine with them!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yikes!.!.!.I just can't deal with handling meat!. If you [really] really wanted meat at my house!.!.!.it might end up being from a restaurant!. I'd do everything to provide for my guests and try not to be a burden when I eat at their place (if you don't want to cook for me, but you still want me over!.!.!.I'll just eat before I come)!.

You're not [expected] to eat vegetarian, but it might just be all they have to offer you!. If you expect meat, perhaps going to a vegetarian's house for dinner would be a bad decision!?

I've never really thought about it this way before!.!.but surely, it can't be that big of a deal!. =] Just a personal preference, no!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it's not!. Meat eaters have no moral stance against eating vegetables!. You eat vegetarian food all the time of your own free will, maybe not an entire meal, but you eat plenty of it and you have no objection to it!. The vegetarian, on the other hand, has taken a principled stance against killing animals for food!. If you don't like it, don't cook for them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If I have people who come over who I know "need" meat, I will cook meat for them!. Usually I try to make something that can be meaty or meat free, like veggie spaghetti and a separate sauce with meatballs, or veggie kabobs and some meat kabobs too!. Otherwise I try to make something that doesn't need meat!.!.!.i!.e!. falafel, pasta primavera, cheesy lasagna or stir fry without meat!. When I go to someone's house though, I don't expect them to cook me something different, I just eat anything they happen to serve that doesn't have meat in it, or sometimes bring something of my own!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't be silly Big Rob!!!!

If I were to go to a pub and buy a round, I wouldn't expect a tee-totaller to have beer just because everyone else is!.

Why don't you just do a meal where you can add the meat as an extra option next time!?

I personally wouldn't invite you for a meal with that attitude and for the person who said, slip some meat in their meal - you are just sick!. Just because you have no conscious, keep your idiotic ideas to yourself!.
Www@FoodAQ@Com

lmao what the hell!?

you're a carnivore!? are you a t-rex!?! lmao!.
it's not a double standard!. vegetarians won't cook or eat meat becuase they don't belive in eating or cooking it becuase they are animal rights activists, most of the time!. they aren't trying to be rude to you THEY JUST DONT EAT MEAT EVER not even for you, hun!.

if youre cooking meat for vegetarians!.!.!.then you are a jerk!.
are you saying you think veggies are so vile that you feel you were forced to eat them as a vegetarian would be toward meat!?

i really don't understand how you cant understand this!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

an omnivore can eat both meat and non-meat items!.
a herbivore can eat only non-meat items!.
therefore you have the ability to eat both items, a vegetarian does not!.
a vegetarian meal is within the range of options you have to eat!.
a meat meal is outside a vegetarians options!.

so i'm diabetic, you can eat my sugarless meal!. i can't eat your sugary meal!.
i'm lactose intolerant, you can eat my dairy free meal!. i can't eat your cheesy meal!.
i'm vegetarian, you can eat my vegetable meal!. i cna't eat your meaty meal!.

its really not htat hard to understand!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because as a vegan it violates their belief!.!.!.!.I have vegan friends and when I cook for them,I still cook meat but I also make sure they have something to eat!.!.!.when they cook for me, they allow me to bring my own meat, if desired!.!.!.but I don't because I would never want to offend them!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.No double standard unless you make it one!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's ridiculous logic!. Most vegetarians are so because of their morals!. You however, don't share those same morals and will eat anything that moves but you CAN eat all the same foods they do!.

Would you expect a Muslim or Jew to cook you pork chops or bacon!? I don't think so!. It's the same thing!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

this is a stupid question!. you know that it is not a double standard!. why do you even try to cook meat for them!? there is plenty of food that was not ripped of an inocent animals body!. ever heard of pasta!? most people eat vegetarian meals every day without thinking of it!. you should be more respectfull of peoples choices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think it is a double standard as the vegetarian food is more than likely food which you, as an [I assume] omnivore, would eat by choice, whereas the omnivorous food which you refer to includes food which the vegetarian has consciously chosen not to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bring your own food!. That's what we usually have to do!.

You can't eat a meal without meat!?

==

EDIT TO ADD: You know what else!? If you didn't like something such as, Green Bell Peppers or garlic for instance, I wouldn't make you anything with those things in it!. Why would you object to doing the same for me with flesh!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Be a big boy and take responsibility of your own food then!. That's what I've done since turning 18!.

Do you have an ethical opposition to eating plants!?

If you have no problem eating animals that were bred for slaughter, any inability to adapt to this sort of situation is your own problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you didn'y like something like pasta then I wouldn't cook a meal for you that involved pasta!. Vegetarians are just like the example I gave above except we don't like eating meat!.
It's no big deal, we just eat what everyone else eats but without meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because YOU can eat vegetarian food but vegetarians can't/won't eat meat!. Why is that so hard to understand!? Eating a vegetarian meal does not go against your beliefs!. Would you serve pork to an orthodox Jew and really expect it to be OK!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

lol idk!. probably cuz people who eat meat also eat veggie food, but veggie ppl (like myself!) don't eat meat!. That's why we're "veggie!." Well if I was cooking for people & I knew they were veggie I just wouldn't cook meat then because I knew they wouldn't eat it!. But that's just me!. =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

this is not double standards you should respect their wish at their home to eat what they cook for you!.

as it is their wish not to eat Meat than you should respect this and provide them a meal they can eat according to their beliefs!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think that they mean to make you become vegetarian, it's just the diet their use to, plus they don't have any meat products!. Don't get offended by that, atleast they cook you a meal!.

=]Www@FoodAQ@Com

What you are saying is that if they were not vegetarians you would only eat the meat and leave the veg and that your carnivores meal is only meat!. Where are the double standards!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't expect you to eat my vegetarian meal!. Go hungry for all I care! I just don't cook and eat dead flesh for moral, environmental, and health reasons!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Only in weirdo world!.

How many carnivores eat meat exclusively!.!.!.!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Are you a carnivore or an omnivore!? Eating vegetarian meals can be much healthier for you and the earth!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

that is a very good point lol

ive a veggie friend and when we go over there for dinner we always have a roast dinner and she has the same just minus the meatWww@FoodAQ@Com

are you against eating fruits and vegetables!?
one meal wouldn't kill youWww@FoodAQ@Com

You know what's funny!! When you cook with meat - all the meat juices and particles become part of the meal, even if they pick it out!. So technically they ARE eating meat, ha ha ha!!!

Yes it's a double standard!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sneak some ham into their meal next time and see if that makes you feel better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've never thought of it that way!. That is a double standard, and a bunch of crap!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey Robbie Boy - you stirred up quite a few with this one!
