Where do you get protein other than meat?!

Answers:
Protein does not come up short on a meatless diet!. It's the building block of life, meaning plants are made of it, too!. Most meat eaters get WAY too much and it's potentially damaging to their health!. Excess protein leaches calcium from the bones, taxes the kidneys and irritates the immune system!.
That said, of course you need a reasonable amount of it!. But all you really have to do to get it is eat a varied, balanced diet!. Vegetarian sources of protein include soybeans and soy-based foods (tofu, tempeh, edamame, tvp, and a variety of faux meats like boca burgers,) beans and other legumes (peas, peanuts, lentils, chickpeas,) whole grains (all of 'em,) nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables (especially dark green veggies,) dairy products and eggs!. If you are taking in enough calories to meet your energy need and you're not trying to live on junk food, you are getting plenty and you do not need to take a protein supplement!. Food is much better for you than pills or powders!.

You didn't mention if you are vegetarian or not!.
Anyway the Vegetarian Society says: ''Most foods contain at least some protein!. Good sources of protein for vegetarians include nuts and seeds, pulses, soya products (tofu, soya milk and textured soya protein such as soya mince), cereals (wheat, oats, and rice), free-range eggs and some dairy products (milk, cheese and yoghurt)''!.
In addition to this list, peanut butter is a great source of protein!.
Vary the foods you eat over the course of the day!. No protein shakes required!. You will get all the protein you need from a varied diet!. (A balanced meat free diet is basically a very healthy diet)!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
