Answers:
By the strict definition of humane you cannot kill for food!.

Humane, characterized by tenderness, compassion, and mercy, esp!. towards humans and animals!.

http://dictionary!.reference!.com/browse/h!.!.!.

To fully answer your question some meat is labeled as humane but it is a misnomer!. You can't kill for food with tenderness and compassion!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most certainly humane slaughter exists, it is just extremely hard to find in most conventional slaughter houses!. Mostly, humane slaughter would be something along the lines of an injection, such as what one would use to put a suffering pet to sleep!. Ideally, if I were to decide to eat meat, I would want to buy the meat of animals brought up with substantial amount of grass and space, and were put to sleep via injection - which is much, much healthier for humans to eat as well (who wants to eat something that has come in contact with a mucky, rusty butcher knife!?)!. also, very important is that the human workers were given sanitary environments, protection from disease and proper pay!.

EDIT: Oops I'm sorry, it appears I was wrong about the injections - funny I remember reading about them somewhere!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is no way to slaughter an animal humanely!. "Humane" meat is a contradiction in terms!. It also refers to animals are raised, not how they are killed!.

As for euthanizing sick animals, that involves injecting them with poisonous chemicals!. You don't want to do that with animals who are being turned into food, of course, and with over a million animals slaughtered an hour in the U!.S!. alone, giving an animal an ounce of consideration is impossible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If by humane slaughter you mean culling of diseased animals or birds, that does exist provided it is incurable and may be the cause of spreading of that disease!.Yes it always involve suffering and you are right!.They should provide an anesthesia to make sure there is no pain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It does!. Don't listen to the people who tell you differently!. They are just trying to make excuses for supporting the real cruelty that goes on everyday!.

AND it is not just the slaughtering that is cruel!. It is the conditions they live in and the abuse they suffer from birth!.!.!.anything from chicks having their beaks seared off to calves having their balls cut off with clippers while they are conscious with no pain meds!.

Free range and organic are no better!. They are just different names for pretty much the same thing!.!.!.and WAY more expensive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well thats a great question let me just say for example if you cut a cows throat and let him suffer and bleed out for 15 minutes seems to be a bit inhumane as opposed to having a tool that you place on the cows head (and although this sounds bad) having a spike penetrate the cows brain and kills him instantly sounds to me is more humane !.
now i am not saying any way of killing is humane or inhumane when you compare the needs of the world marked in food some things are done ,some of which we will not enjoy to hear about !. and their will be alot of people disagreeing with me !. how far should we go !.
lobster is eaten in this country ALOT and they kill them by putting live lobster in a pot of boiling hot water !. i am a chef and have heard the sound that a lobster makes when it is put in boiling hot water alive and it is awful , so where do we draw the line and who makes the rules on killing !?!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

I believe that it is possible to kill an animal without causing suffering!. A single shot through the brain will end an animal's life before it's aware that it's been hit!. That being said, it's not very economical, so most places don't bother!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

yeah it does!.
its never humane!
some ways are more humane than others
but they still involve suffering!.

and they can't drug the animal,
because then you can't eat the meat!.

i dont agree with it myself,
im vegetarian!.

how can any kind of slaughter be "humane"!?!!?!
to me, saying something like that is equal to saying that there is such a thing as a just genocide!. it makes no sense!. also there is no need for it!.
It hurts to die, right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

it does depend on how you view what humane means!.!.!. right now the meat industry is EXTREMELY inhumane, but I think any way that involves the animal suffering inhumane, and they can't drug it!.
watch meet your meat on goveg!.comWww@FoodAQ@Com

Some methods of slaughter are more humane than others!. "Humane" isn't an absolute value!. You can have more or less of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Of course not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

noo it does not!! it is horriable what is going on to these poor animals!! i hate it!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are right, all slaughter is inhumane!.!.!.!.but some animals are put down to end their suffering!.Some human beings are condemned to die by lethal injection, which I think is a humane form of execution!.

Some humans ain't human
Some people ain't kind
They lie through their teeth
With their head up their behind
You open up their hearts
And here's what you'll find
Some humans ain't human
Some people ain't kind
