How can I stop being such a annoying vegetarian?!

Question: How can I stop being such a annoying vegetarian!?
I dont want any rude people answering me please!.
Well I have been a vegetarian for 2 yrs and I seem to be really stubborn about it!. Well my older sister asked me to help her become a vegetarian and i said yeah, cause i was talking to my dad telling him what they do to animals and everything and she was right there!. And so i decided to help her to become one and were at Apple Bees and shes like "I want a steak" and im like, what!? I thought you were a veggie and she said "I'm dying for a steak!" and i got really really upset!. And I was pretty much lecturing her the whole time and she ordered chicken instead!. I was just like, whatever do what you want!. And now my mom gave up being a vegetarian cause she says she cant have soy since she had thyroid and now she eats chicken, turkey but she said she wont eat pork of beef cause she loves cows!. And we ordered pizza tonight and she was gonna order this steak sandwich and i said, areyou kidding me!? And she didn't order it but she said im craving steak!. And i so dont understand all this, she says she wont eat steak but then she says shes dying for it!. I know becoming a vegetarian is hard but dont just say you wont bother eating steak and then say oh, im craving it!. And when people do this i just get so mad, i know i can't control peoples appetite, and i guess its wrong to talk to people about what they do to animals but it's not like im pressuring!. Should i just give up on people!? Should i worry about myself!? I just wanna help the animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have this problem all of the time!. I am a vegetarian also!. I find my friends often say things such as, "I want to be a vegetarian but i love steak to much"
They don't really want to help the animals!. They just want people to think they do!. Most people just aren't strong enough!. Your sister and mom sound like they just want to be a vegetarian to please you!. Not for the sake of the animals!. You just have to respect others eating choices!. It pisses me off too, when my friends try to be vegetarians, and fail so easily!. Its not because they don't love the animals!. Its just because they can't control themself!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

why dont you mind your own business!. when you make a point to avoid meat do people get on your case about how stupid it is!? let people be and stop being so judgemental!. what makes your opinion on the matter right anyway!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

ok, your mom needs an iron supplement!. and you need to not treat vegetarianism as your identity- its a choice you've made, thats fine!.just do your thing!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

educate people
but don't be a pain

if people want to eat meat, theres not much you can do about it

All teenagers are annoying, not just vegetarians!. You'll grow out of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

just worrying about yourself would help!. Lots of people are vegitarians (if i could only handle it i would be! sorry) and many animals around the world are being saved!. But just so you won't feel guilty about not helping animals, why not voulenteer (i kno i spelled that wrong, i don't feel like going back, lol) for an animal shelter!? Lots of animals are being helped that way!. Look for ways to help the enviroment, and you'll be helping animals, even though some people still do eat meat!. (Srry this is so long!) :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Look at it like this!.!.!. everyone has a right to make their own choices!. You made yours, but you can't choose for others!.

I have a niece that is a vegan!. Well she was, but she had health issues that caused her to need to include fish in her diet!. She still won't eat meat, pork or poultry!. She won't eat eggs or drink milk or wear leather!. She is very into how animals are treated!. When she first made her lifestyle choice people would often ask her questions and give her a hard time!. It made her not want to come around people who weren't like her!.

Remember that when you hear what others say they want!. Not everyone has the same feelings!. It's expected that we are all very different!. So be tolerant of others just as you want them to be of you!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know it's extremely difficult to not say anything, but the best way I've found is to lead by example!. Make it seem easy!. Be compassionate; after all, that's what it's about, isn't it!?

Just try to remember where you were before you went veggie!. Some people would like to "convert," but they're just not ready!. That's where making it seem easy comes in!. Once they see how easy it is to have cruelty-free food, it might lead them to trying it out!.

I know I desperately want to go psycho-vegan every time I see people gorging themselves on meat/eggs/dairy, but I just have to remind myself that just because I've learned something doesn't mean I have any right to go off on the for not knowing!.

As for your mom, why not work on giving up soy yourself!? Have you ever had seitan!? It's a vegan/vegetarian "meat" that's made from soy!. I've yet to try it, but it's in my fridge, waiting to be eaten!. :) It goes along with showing others how easy it can be to stop eating animal products!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

well im sorry to tell u but, no matter how hard u or other vegetarians try, animals are going to get killed everyday for their meat!. So if you are only a vegetarian because you don't want them killed them u might as well give up!. Let her do what she wants!. If she wants steak let her eat steak and stop the lectures!. When she comes back saying she wants to be a vegeterain, tell her she knows what you guys eat and what u dont so its her choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, just give up, you can't control what other people do or even how hypocritical they are, which I assume is the most annoying part of it all!. People ALWAYS find it annoying when their habits(smoking, poor eating, eating meat) are criticized by other people!. Even if you think you can make them "see the light" it probably won't happen, and they feel like you are condescending to them, as though you think you are better than they are because you chose not to eat meat, so yeah, people always take that kind of stuff the wrong way, even if you are trying to help them, or the animals they eat!. It is a rather useless argument too, you can't get everyone to stop eating meat, just know that YOU personally are doing something good for these animals or at least taking a stand against it by not eating meat, and try not to worry about what others do or try to talk them into changing because you can rarely make someone else change their ways and it DOES become rather annoying when you try, and both parties get frustrated and there is never a conclusive ending other than agreeing to disagree in these arguments!. I've tried on multiple occasions to talk a guy I know out of being an alcoholic and it never works even though my points are rather valid and he has none!. My point is, if you can't even talk someone into doing what is good for THEMSELVES, how can you talk them into doing something that is good for others or animals!? It's useless and it sucks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You'd be surprised how people change their views just from being around you! My husband after living with a veg family for 2 years (when the kids and I went veg), already eats veg meals often!. But more recently watched Super Size ME (didn't know he rented it or watched it while on a business trip) and is considering going veg himself!. Whether he will, I don't think, but I would love it if he did! My mom who hated whenever I thought of not eating meat when a teenager, has slowly stopped eating some items and even tried eating raw for 30 days!. She did succeed, but is slowly turning her way more toward veg everytime I talk to her (and I live cross country where I can't pressure her, I just talk about the kids and my doings, and sometimes that consists of our eating choices)!. And according to my mom, my dad, the big avid meat eater has also begun to reduce his meat intake! So don't say anything and just do your thing!. Even if they never stop eating it, if they were to just reduce, that would be helpful!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's pretty hard for people to stick to a vegetarian diet - I like to consider myself half-vegetarian, because I don't like steak or fish or turkey (or too much meat at all, actually), but I think the fake veggie meats taste nasty so I still eat hamburgers and chicken!.

It doesn't mean I don't care about the animals, because I do!. My one goal is to help them and I volunteer with animals at the shelter all the time to make sure they're going to the right home!. But I'm not going to stop eating something I like "just because"!. The vegetarian lifestyle isn't for everyone, and I accept that!.

It is kind of weird that your mom and sister had cravings for things they said they could live without and are still trying to live without!. But I think you should get mad at them as the concerned person afraid of them breaking promises, not the pissed off vegetarian :) Don't give up on people, but you have to worry about yourself first, always!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i know exactly what you mean, my whole family is big on the meat and i won't touch it!. eventually you just realize that you aren't going to change them - it's something they have to see for themselves!. it frustrates me too, but there isn't a thing you can do to change people who don't want to be changed!. you just have to learn to keep it in, it makes it a bit simpler for everyone involved!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you really want to stop being an annoying vegetarian, you'll need to stop trying to tell them what to do!. Whether or not someone wants to go vegetarian or not, what they eat is their business, not yours!. If someone asks for your help being a vegetarian, then take them out to your favorite vegetarian restaurant, or cook a vegetarian meal for them!. Don't be the veggie police!. That's totally obnoxious!. When someone asks for help, they want support and positive encouragement, not someone who is going to make them feel like crap for messing up!.

And for the record, laying a guilt trip on someone by talking about what the animals go through while they're eating IS pressuring!.

I'm trying to give up caffeine and it's really hard!. I crave it and I miss it (and it's only been two days!.!.!. ARGH!)!. What does this have to do with anything!? Well, wanting to give something up doesn't mean that you're automatically going to stop wanting it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds like your sister was teasing you, first saying she wanted your help to be veggie and then reversing her stance by wanting to order a steak!. That has a little bit of a bullying aspect to it!.

I feel that what a person wants to eat is a personal decision just like what church if any they want to go to!. It is based on what makes you feel best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would suggest not worrying about your family's eating habits!. Often, living by example is a lot more persuasive than giving people a hard time about eating meat!.

also, think about it this way: your sister is just one person!. Instead of focusing on her, you could give out maybe 50 or 100 pamphlets in an hour and reach a lot more people with the animal rights message!.

In the words of Vegan Outreach:

"Spreading animal-friendly eating is a numbers game!.
Don't dwell on the people you know who won't change!.
Instead, go out and leaflet, or sponsor a leafleter, at a college!
You'll do more good in an hour than spending years on many of the people you know!."

Vegan Outreach has a great program called "Adopt a College" if you're interested in getting involved!. It's a lot more rewarding to go out and spread awareness than focus on your family members!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I used to go to a Buddhist temple for after-school and since they were Buddhist, we all had to convert to Buddhism and become vegetarians!.
It was really hard, because I went 6 years as a vegetarian!.
My physician said it wasn't healthy since I was only 9 and I was a growing boy!.
The afterschool owners did, however, have vegetarian drumsticks and vegetarian ham made out of tofu and other organic foods!.
It tasted alot like real meat, yet it was still vegetarian!.
Even though I had given up being a vegetarian, I still pester my mom to buy vegetarian ham because it tastes just like meat and is healthier!.
Maybe you can try that as an alternative!.
You can find it in your local Chinese supermarket if you ask around!.
Hope this is a viable answer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

tell them to FU-CK off!.

let her have her bottle!.!.!. she's starving herself technically!.

keep on the vegetarian kick!.!.!. http://www!.healthalternatives2000!.com/ve!.!.!.

you'll outlive her and it'll be all quiet again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well you are missing a lot of nutretion try only eating chicken and turkey products that way you are not eating red meatsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well honestly I don't think your making a difference, I don't really get why people go vegetarian or vegan!. I ask my vegetarian friend and he says he's helping the animals and won't get mad cows desiese!? >!.> you take greater risks in life everyday for goodness sake!. And eating meat is natural, it keeps the natural order, if there were too many cows in the world they'd eat up all the food and die!. Your helping the cows, your helping the natural order by eating meat!.

But it is your descision and yeah I'm not a fan of slaughter houses either, I'm sure all vegetarians go through this!. You'll survive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am an animal lover, but I still eat meat!. Stop trying to force your beliefs down your familys throats! Whats next, you find religion and demand your family pray every night,or you take up drugs and demand your family all become junkies!?

Its all well and good to have your own opinions and beliefs!.!.but they are YOURS and I can guranteee you, your going to meet ALOT of people that wont agree with you!.

Its people that have their beliefs and try to force them on others that make me angry!.!.we ALL have free will!.!.deal with it
