I've never tried it (because I never liked fish) and I don't have a recipe, but I know there are plenty of recipes floating around out there for mock tuna salad based on chickpeas!. Not sure how a tuna casserole compares to a tuna salad, having never eaten either, but chickpeas would be a whole lot easier to source than premade mock tuna (unless you have a vegan grocery at your disposal!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some diced, sauteed tofu, or some cooked, crumbled meat substitute would be good in this!. I don't know of any fish substitutes, but other subs would go good!. If you are ok with eggs, try some hard-cooked egg diced into it!

I hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Extra-firm tofu might work, if you're gentle so you don't break the pieces up too much !.!.!. Garbanzo beans might work, but they're a little hard!. Maybe Great Northern white beans!? Shelled edaname might be really good too !.!.!.!. or al dente cauliflower floretsWww@FoodAQ@Com

I like to soak raw cashews for about an hour!. Pour off the liquid (but save it for adding to soups or sauces) and then chop the soft cashew!. I add celery and chooped olives!.!.!. use for sandwhich spread!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have seen recipes for faux tuna salad that contain tempeh or chickpeas!.

I think tempeh or maybe even frozen then thawed tofu would give a good texture, though obviously nothing like the original!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

how about portabella mushrooms, they are meaty, but not meat!!!

Add** it is pretty funny that someone would recommend pot roast in the vegetarian/vegan sectionWww@FoodAQ@Com
