Many vegans would like us to stop eating animals?!
but in Africa and other parts of the world animals eat humans!. Humans are meat eaters even though a small percentage (less than 1%) are vegans!. In the UK humans are top of the food chain, but not so in countries where animals are wild!. As a race why should we change our way of life!. Once we are no longer top of the food chain then animals could start eating us!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Well, I'm not a vegan, nor do I think all people should stop eating animals just because I'm a vegetarian!.
That being said, there are a few essential problems with your argument: first of all, you seem to assume that there is a relationship between eating meat and being eaten!. When it comes to humans, there is not!. Here in America, there are wild animal attacks every year, some of them fatal!. They come from animals that are carnivorous as well as those that are herbivores!. The common link is people being in the wrong place at the wrong time!.
In the UK, you don't have the vast variety of wildlife, let alone the huge national parks and reserves that we have here!. In short, people have fewer opportunities to be stupid and incur the wrath of an alligator or wild buffalo!.
The reason we are on top of the food chain is our technology, not our diets!. Vegetarians are no more or less appealing than meat-eaters from a carnivore's point of view!. And neither vegetarian nor meat eater would have much of a chance against a cheetah without a gun!.
I have eaten meat and been vegetarian!. When I stopped eating meat, I didn't suddenly become more appealing to animals!. In fact, I've gotten fewer mosquito bites since then!. So I don't know what to tell you!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Forgive me, but this is a very simplistic, and possibly inaccurate, way of looking at things!.
By recent observation of scientific studies, we can accurately deduce that humans capacity to eat meat is largely a survival mechanism, necessary when other more healthy sources of plant based foods are not available for some reason!. Research by Professor Colin Campbell at the University of Cornell looking at migration of plant eating peoples coming from Asia to America for example, found the following, overwhelming conclusion: the more these people went away from a plant based diet, and onto the meat and animal foods based diet of most of America, the sicker they got!.
Its also arguable whether animals are top of the food chain at all actually: I'd put good money on a tiger or lion eating me if I didn't have a shotgun or the like in my hand!. And these animals ARE natural carnivores: they don't have much choice about what to eat!. Humans on the other hand, thrive on starch and vegetable based plant foods, with much smaller amounts of protein than carnivores, which can be gained easily from plant sources!.
It's become clear of late that the way of raising animals for food in the West has resulted in a glut of poor quality animal based foods, that increase risks to health, and encourage animal cruelty on factory farms as well as cause huge environmental damage!. That's why vegans choose to give up eating animal products!.
I respect and commend you that you're trying to understand vegans better by asking about your question!. But there's a lot from your viewpoint missing at present that you need to find out to get a better informed picture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"Meat-eating was essential for human evolution, says UC Berkeley anthropologist specializing in diet"
(see source)
You can also hear about this on the History Channels "Evolve" series about guts, if you manage to catch a re-broadcast!. (see 2nd source)
I really don't think humans should cut meat out of their diets for many reasons, and the impact meat had on our evolution is one!. (Though we're not going to "de-volve" any time soon if we stop eating meat!.)
I was a lacto-ovo-vegetarian for 2!.75 years!. When I started eating meat again, it was leaner source (like skinless boneless chicken breast)!. I lost a bit of weight on the scale while I gained strength in my gym lifts!.
In my personal experience, eating meat is healthy, if done the right way!. (And double bacon cheese burgers are not the right way!.)

I think it's stupid to stop eating meat completely!. The human body NEEDS some of the stuff that are found in animals (cow, chicken, fish, etc)!. Plants just don't cut it!. It may be healthier, but how about everything in moderation!? Imagine how animals live, they eat each other!. They NEED to eat each other!. Let's say lions stopped eating gazelles!. Wouldn't there be too many gazelles than!? Waaay too many, even THEY wouldn't be able to survive!. idk but i c nothing wrong w/ eating some meat, and a lot of veggies!. It's a normal human diet!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
This is a ridiculous theory!. The animals we kill for food (pigs, cows, chickens, turkeys, fish, etc!.) are not going to eat people if we stop eating them!. Sure a tiger would probably tear you apart if it came face-to-face with you, but what makes you think that would be more common if we stopped eating cows and pigs!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't see your point!.
Yes, some animals would eat a human if they were given the chance!. That's obvious!. They are carnivores and they live on meat!. What's your point!? Are you saying because "animals would eat us" we have the right to eat them!?
You're wrong!. We are not carnivores!. We are omnivores, meaning that we have a far more options when it comes to food!. We don't have to eat meat to survive!. We can thrive on a vegetarian diet (and vegan)!. We do not have to kill other animals to survive since we can get all the nutrients we need from plant sources!.
I don't understand your "food chain" theory!. I agree that we ARE at the top of the food chain, since (unfortunately) we are capable of mass slaughter of animals due to technology and advances in hunting!. We can bring down animals far bigger than us!. We are the most dangerous predator!.
However, when stripped of our fancy machinery we are feeble predators!. So I guess your point is, if we stopped killing animals (thus falling from the top of the food chain) then they would kill us!?
First of all, most of the animals that vegans do not eat are not the kind of animals to attack a human for food!. Cows, chickens, goats, pigs!.!.!.etc!. Most of the animals non-vegetarians eat are not carnivorous and therefore would not attack us if we stopped killing them!.
Second of all, there is nothing ethically wrong about defending yourself in the face of a hungry predator!. I am vegan but if I tiger came at me I would shoot it!. Obviously I am not going to eat it, but I am going to defend myself if my life is theatened (like any other animal would)!.
Still, I don't understand what you're getting at!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just because you stop eating meat doesn't mean animals are going to just come up and eat you!.!.!.and many people who do eat meat get killed by wild animals!. Animals don't go "wow there's a human, they're at the top of the food chain, i won't attack them" Animals will eat you whether you eat them or not!. So don't because so far i don't see any that have eaten you latelyWww@FoodAQ@Com
Humans are omnivores, so why mess with Mother Nature!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Where is the question!.
We could kill big animals because we were smart enough to invent weapons!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"but in Africa and other parts of the world animals eat humans"
Yeah, I don't live in Africa!. I don't believe that cattle or chickens eat people so I don't see a reason to make them suffer for it!.
"As a race why should we change our way of life"
You just stated that less than 1% of people are vegan!. It doesn't sound like the entire human race's way of life is being changed!. We're all individuals and I'm pretty sure that making our own choices is part of that!. You just happen to choose to pick on a minorities!.
"Once we are no longer top of the food chain then animals could start eating us" That's probably why predators that are a threat to people are killed or relocated!. That's not supposed to be some sort of argument is it!? I hope not!.
I am only in control of my own body and my own diet!. What other people eat is none of my business but when animals are treated cruelly for the sake of mass production, it becomes everyone's business!. It's just that most people don't pay attention!. If people want meat, they should have to have someone go out and kill an animal themselves instead of paying someone else to do it!.
If you want to be on top of the food chain, good for you but funneling resources into manufactured flesh is just a shameful waste!. The land usage that goes into growing crops to support Confined Animal Feeding Operations is appalling at best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You gotta have some compassion for other living things besides humans!. Honestly, I think it's greedy to assume you're one of the only species on the planet that deserves to live and then decide to kill off 5 other types of animals and eat them when, quite honestly, *you don't need to in order to survive*!.
Just because other countries do something doesn't make it ethical!. Especially when you compare the moral standards of different countries!.
Just because people before us did something doesn't make it right either!. Was slavery right!? Of course not!. It was in the past and in most parts of the world never occurs any longer!.
Our society is supposed to advance from our days as cave people!.
Not to mention, animals that are carnivores don't necessarily have a choice on what they can eat and can't!. Natural selection and their environment come into play here!.
We have a choice, though!.
And also, I'm afraid you're wrong about your assumption that if we don't eat them, they eat us!. I'm a vegetarian, I haven't been attacked by any wild creatures have I!? Nope!.
Wild animals attack in defense!. Usually because some person decides to invade their habitat, mess with their offspring, or try to kill them!. If another human did that to you, you'd probably do the same!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
