Hosting a Vegan Baby Shower and I Have Vegan Questions?!

Question: Hosting a Vegan Baby Shower and I Have Vegan Questions!?
My sis asked for her party to be vegan (and without pink), and I'm finding with all the extras included like favors, which I am doing a small a mount of candy, it is getting harder to make it happen for my budget! But here are my questions, hopefully you can help!!!

1!.) I know one food coloring is made from beetles in some way, which is it!? I've been searching organic vegan candy (which I know is better because it lacks artificial food coloring, which I also hate and all that other crap like caranuba wax), but at the prices for at least 20 people, I'm thinking to go non organic!.

2!.) I recently, as in the last week, read that the glaze used to coat candies is not vegan because it uses some by-product of sorts, how true is this because Jordan Almonds is the simplest and most cost effective route at this point!?

3!.) Any other ideas for candy to use for the favors!?
Thank you!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
1) You're thinking of carmine, also called cochineal!. It's made from crushed cochineal beetles!. There's an organic vegan candy company called Pure Fun!. You can order their stuff on Amazon!.com (yeah, they have their problems, but they do have good prices)

2) Resinous glaze, food glaze, confectioner's glaze, and shellac are all insect-based!.

Crap is cheap, and quality ingredients are expensive!. I'm sorry to have to tell you this!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds complicated as well as expensive!. Perhaps the best way to go is to serve nuts, raisins, figs, dates, and other dried fruits plus cookies, and forget the processed candies!. You could also provide crackers and jam!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The candy Mambas are vegan!.

I consider them like the vegan version of starburst!. And theyre yummy!.
