There are various categories of vegetarianism!. The reasons for categorization have to do with the reasons why people decide to become vegetarian in the first place, whether it be culture, personal reasons, nutrition, etc!. By including fish in a largely vegetarian diet, you are a pescetarian and a semi-vegetarian!.
Here are the categories of vegetarianism:
Vegetarian diets
> Lacto-ovo-vegetarianism (eats eggs and dairy)
> Ovo-vegetarianism (eats eggs)
> Lacto-vegetarianism (eats dairy)
> Sattvic diet (Ayurvedic foods)
> Veganism (pure vegetarianism)
> Raw veganism (non-cooked vegetables)
> Fruitarianism (eats mainly the ripe fruits of plants)
Semi-vegetarian diets
> Flexitarianism (possibly 80 - 90% vegetarian and 20-10% not)
> Pescetarianism (eats seafood)
> Pollotarianism (eats chicken)
If you are interested in any of these particular diets, it is possible to go into most major cities in the U!.S!. in a good vegetarian restaurant that specializes in them and try them out!. See site list below and note that I was able to find a lot of restaurants via happycow!.net
also, there are pure vegans out there who will discount any eating of animals or animal by-product as not vegetarian at all!. For them, there is no compromise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think vegetarians do consider fish to be a type of meat - since it really isn't a vegetable!.!.!.
If you eat vegetables and fish, but not other meat, you're a pescatarian!.
I think it depends on WHY you're avoiding meat - if it's for health reasons, then you can probably eat fish and consider yourself whatever you want!. But if you're avoiding meat for moral reasons, then those reasons would apply to fish too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I really think it depends on your reasons for being a vegetarian!. My mother is vegetarian just because she simply thinks meat is disgusting!. But she loves fish and she eats it all the time!. But if you are vegetarian because you think it's cruel to animals, then i don't think eating a fish is any different than eating a cow!. But usually people who think it's cruel to animals become not veagan which means you cannot eat anything that even came from any type of a living thing!. that includes chees, milk, eggs, pepperoni, hot dogs, fish, fish eggs, and the list goes on!. So it's up to you and your reasons behind it! But just remember that if you become vegetarian, you will have to find some sort of protein in your diet, which is why a lot of vegetarian choose to eat fish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It really depends on if you want to be a strict vegetarian or not!.
My cousins are vegetarian and they all eat some fish, just to get protein!. I will when my parents let me go vegetarian (my birthday this year!) But if you don't want to eat any meat then you don't need to!. Just make sure to get enough protein!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarians don’t eat fish and they never have!. Many things have changed since The Vegetarian Society was founded in 1847 but two important definitions haven’t:
“ VEGETARIAN” – someone who doesn’t eat animals
“ FISH” – cold-blooded, water-dwelling animal
