Is this typical of vegetarians or just those associated with PETA?!

Question: Is this typical of vegetarians or just those associated with PETA!?
Note that people are requesting other members to thumb down or thumb up Y!Answers account users!. the ID's of the Y!Answers accounts clearly stated!. so can we assume that there are PETA activists in this forum thumbing up/down accounts!?

I think one stated that he/she made an account, presumably to do just that!.

Probably just to those two who were in that thread!. Notice that there were no other posts besides those two!.

Not surprising though that something like that would come from PETA members though!. Lunacy attracts lunatics!. But PETA has as much to do with vegetarianism as the Ku Klux Klan has to do with Christianity!.

For me, it's kinda flattering actually!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only thing that is 'typical' of vegetarians is that they don't eat meat!. Other than that, they are as diverse in their views, opinions personalities and behaviours as meat-eaters are!.

People use the thumbs up/down thing in a number of ways on all YA forums!. Some people routinely thumbs down all posts, others thumbs down all Top Contributors or people they don't like!. Others reserve it for answers with which they disagree or which are offensive!. And others don't do it at all!.

You link to one person's post on another message board!. Are there PETA members thumbing on V&V!? Who really cares!? What difference does it make!?

Nobody can create an account just for doing this, you have to participate in some other ways and get to level2 before you can give TUs/TDs!.

That is not a PETA thing!. That's a teenage thing!. Although, seeing some of exsft's answers, I can't really blame people for wanting exsft to get thumbs down!.!.!. to be honest!. I've never met someone in real life with so much hatred towards vegetarianism and animal rights!.

Since there are plenty of PETA haters in Vegetarian/Vegan, having some PETA supporters would just balance things out a bit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say that's a PETA thing!. Some people cheat with thumbs and votes here!. For some, it's quite obvious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ew!. I saw that post because someone asked a question like this previously!.

I want to concur with Lo_mcg - NOTHING is "typical" of vegetarians!. Just like there is no "typical white person" or "typical woman" or "typical Christian"!. Those are slanted statements that allow you to mentally categorize and even dismiss groups in society you yourself don't belong to!. Scratch the surface and you'll notice that most vegetarians are EXTREMELY different, varying in appearance, profession, how they feel about issues like animal testing or wearing leather, etc!.

Judging from the way the spelling and grammar is, and the underdeveloped emotional response, and the internet slang used on top of it, I'd assume it's the typical 12-16 year old girl that spends all her time on the PETA forums!.

I don't know any top contributors that fit that category!. Most of the answerers in this forum are pretty literate and tolerant, the ones that aren't are just people that are browsing through that usually answer in other areas!.

You have to remember that most people get into vegetarianism when they are very young, over emotional and passionate!. So yes, those are some young, peppy teenagers most likely, with their hearts in the right place perhaps but they are just too young to know how to properly deal with people different than them yet!. Kids make cliques all the time!. It's always a "us versus them" atmosphere!. The PETA forum is no different, with them constantly pitting out "enemies" from other websites to swarm and attack to defend their little groups!.

People that make it out of high school (AND leave the drama behind - I still have friends that think they're freshmen or something!) SHOULD be able to handle dissenting opinions!.

I can read someone blasting vegetarianism or arguing against it just fine!. That doesn't mean I won't respond to it and put my foot down and put my own position into writing!. But I don't report, thumb's down, violate or downright hate users that think differently than me!. The only thime I report people (rarely as it is) is when they directly insult me or someone else!. I have had people hate me purely because I'm vegetarian and post questions aimed at me, saying "Maggie, go rape little kids in Sudan, stupid vegans, blah blah blah"!. That is really different from someone like exsft, for instance, who has always remained respectful towards me and so I have no problems with him!. We can argue about vegetarianism but at the endo f the day we can both walk away feeling like we learned something, not that we have another person to hate!.

I know for a fact that I have not visited a PETA webpage in over 3 years aside from when I am accidentally linked to it or someone directly requests a comment on it (like now)!. I grew out of my PETA stage many years ago, I was 13 years old and PETA's advertising and information was the only place I could think to look to find people like me!. Once I grew up a bit and learned about PETA's insidious practices, I moved on!. I respect groups that do more for animals and are much less self-serving now!.

Frankly I doubt that those people are anyone that visits this forum frequently, I bet those are any number of the folks that are "Browsing through" on any given day!. I doubt that someone like them (with their poor spelling and grammar and lack of emotional stamina to handle counterarguements) would get very far on Yahoo Answers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
