A question for vegetarians..?!
Even though I am not a 100% vegetarian, because I do eat fish and some sea foods to gain the real proteins I need and also recommended by my doctor!. A friend of mine is a "strict" vegetarian, and one day I asked him if they are allowed to eat eggs!. He simply said no!. From that day, I am a little curious if they are not allowed to Eggs, then how come I see him and other vegetarians eat cake, sandwich with mayonnaise, and even egg pudding!.
I hope you understand what I am trying to ask here!.!.please be polite and give me a straight forward answer!.
Thanks Www@FoodAQ@Com

A "strict vegetarian" diet is the same as a vegan diet!.
A vegan diet would NOT include egg products though there are cakes, "veganaise" and such that ARE vegan friendly!.
What are real proteins!? Are there fake ones!? You can get all of the proteins you need from non-animal sources!.
A vegan is not categorized by diet alone, my dear carolina!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are several different degrees of vegetarianism!. Some people allow themselves dairy, eggs, fish or any combination of those, and are still able to call themselves vegetarians!. Others, who call themselves fruitarians, only eat those things that can be gathered without harming the plant-- which rules out vegetables!. What you choose to include in your diet depends on the reason you became vegetarian, whether it be because of beliefs or health or any other reason!.
So basically, whether or not your friend eats eggs is personal choice, and yes, he can still be considered a vegetarian (though not a vegan)!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarians CAN eat eggs, if you are an ovo-vegetarian!. Lacto-vegetarians and vegans DO NOT eat eggs!.
As for how they are able to eat such things:
Certain brands of mayonnaise, cake and bread make those products without eggs!. Instead of real eggs, they use "egg substitutes" or other ingredients!. In a word (actually two words): FAKE EGGS!.
You can make cake, mayonnaise and bread without eggs!. It's hard to do, but it can be done!. Normally these products are sold at health food stores!. Check the ingredient labels on what your friends are eating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are not 100% vegetarian, you are 0%!. It's one or the other!. You eat meat!. You are 0% vegetarian and 100% omnivore!.
You can make a cake eggless by using apple sauce instead of eggs when baking it!.
You can purchase egg-free mayos and other sandwich spreads in the veg/vegan section of your grocery store!.
It's not "proteins!." It's protein!. There is no "s"!. You can get protein from plenty of things other than meat!.
There are vegans who don't eat any animal products!. Then there are regular vegetarians who still consume eggs and dairy products!. There are no vegetarians that eat meat though!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your friend is actually a Vegan!. Many people are confused by the terms, or just stick to one for simplicity!. A vegetarian does not eat meat or wear leather or fur!. (You are what is called a Pesco-vegetarian because you eat seafood!. Same rule applies if you ate chicken too!.) Vegans do not eat any meat products and also do not eat any products produced by an animal!. Vegans generally feel that it is cruel to keep a cow artificially pregnant so she will produce milk and have chickens lay eggs!. They feel that those eggs could have been chicks instead!. It is thought of wasting opportunities to replenish the population!. (Don't misunderstand me, eggs that we eat never had chickens in them!.) Www@FoodAQ@Com
There are many different types of vegetarians!.
Lacto-ovo can eat daiy and eggs but refrains from all meats!.
Lacto also doesnt eat eggs but dairy's okay!.
Ovo will eat eggs but not dairy!.
Vegan is the strictest form of vegetarian and will not eat any products that are made with animal by products such as honey!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Either your friend is eating eggless cakes and eggless mayo or he is just relaxing his rules!. In some cultures, people who eat eggs are considered vegetarian and in other cultures, they are not!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
You're a pesco-vegetarian and lacto-ovo-vegetarian!.
You eat fruit, veg, dairy and fish!.
Eat fish - I don't, I wish I could - I just can't bring myself to!.

There are different rules that vegetarians go by, depending on personal or religious beliefs, health restrictions, or convenience for some!.
Vegans do not eat eggs (or dairy or meat or use any animal derived product)!. Lacto-vegetarias eat dairy but not eggs!. Lacto-ovo-vegetarians eat dairy, eggs, but no flesh (meat)!.
Some don't eat actual eggs, but will eat them processed into things like cake batter!. Same idea as some vegetarians eating chicken broth!. Some cannot bring themselves to cut out all the foods that contain eggs or dairy or whatever the thing is!.
He may not realize that eggs are in many things!.
Again, it's all a matter of choice!. If someone says they eat no eggs and eats mayonnaise, they're aren't being truthful, intentionally or not!. Or if they claim to be "vegan" and eat marshmallows or buy leather, they too need to do more research!. Labels cause problems, because vegetarianism is more of a spectrum, and labels only lead to debates, arguments, and preaching!.
I don't think it would be offensive to ask your friend why he personally doesn't eat eggs but eats other egg-containing foods!. As long as it's not phrased in an accusatory or "gotcha!" way!.
Good question, and you're very observant to notice this about your friend!.
