Here's a small list of ideas!.

There are many cheese subs!. I live in the US and most of the non-dairy cheese isn't vegan!. All I know about the UK is that there are more vegan cheezy products on the market!.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12!.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended!.

It may help if you see proof that vegetarian people have the same potential as anyone else!.

If you need meat or dairy during any stage of your life or to live any certain lifestyle, why does the American Dietetic Association say otherwise!?

All the food you can eat /will/ be fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, legumes!.!.!.things like that!. That's the point, after all!. But that doesn't mean your food will be boring!. There are a lot of vegan foods out there; you could try tofu, tempeh, seitan!.!.!.the list goes on!. There are also some companies, such as Morningstar and Yves, which produce replacement meat (coldcuts or things like ribs, chicken nuggets, meatballs, etc)!. Not all of them are very good, but some are extremely delicious and definitely worth looking into!. I would also suggest getting a vegan cookbook, such as Vegan World, which can provide you with more ideas!.

As for cheese: there is replacement cheese, but I'm not sure what the company names are that make it!. Depending on where you live, it could be either very easy to find (just check with the real cheese) or quite difficult (perhaps try a health food store)!.

Know, though, that things won't be exactly the same!. Vegan cheese alternatives don't typically melt the same way as real cheese, assuming they melt at all: be open-minded and try different brands, but know that you might not ever find something that is completely satisfying!.

Good job, though: I think you're making a good choice, not just for the animals, but for yourself and the environment!. Good luck and don't give up even if it's tough at first!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

The best way to make your diet interesting is to vary the way you cook what youre eating!. Preparing vegetables Indian food style is a great way to get a lot of taste out of your food, and feel like youre eating sometime different even though it may be the same veggies you ate in a salad the day before, its a totally new taste!.

Experiment with meat-product alternatives like veggie burgers and other soy products!. If you like cereals, try Rice Dream or Soy milk in them!.

Rice and soba noodles are great meals!. Soba noodles stir fried with vegetables is a dinner I eat often!.

Try stores like Mrs!. Greens and Trader Joes for pre-packaged foods that are vegan friendly!. Kashi brand makes a lot of granolas, cereals, etc!. that are delicious and a believe most of them are vegan-friendly!.

My advice is to ease into it!. Cut out foods that you know are out - eggs, milk, mac and cheese, honey - basic foods that you know arent vegan friendly!. Then work your way into checking labels, and soon youll learn what things you can and cannot eat and it will definitely become easier over time!.

Make sure that you eat nuts, beans, chick peas, etc!. to get your protein in and lots of varied fruits and vegetables (dont just eat lettuce!)!. also make sure you take a good multi-vitamin to get all your essential vitamins and minerals!.

There are vegan alternative cheeses made with soy - but be careful to read the package as many soy-based cheeses can still contain trace amounts of milk!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Be real!. No animal products doesn't mean just apples and carrots!. There is so much to eat: pasta, pizza, stir fries, sushi, burritos, fries, soups, salads, tacos, curries, rice, cereal, ice cream, pancakes, pies, etc!.
For dairy, I recommend Silk soy milk!. I've tried them all--hemp, rice, almond, sesame, and that is the easiest one to like!. Keep in mind that milk alternatives are like beer--they taste a little funny at first but after about a week you love it!.
You should try to avoid white flour because now that you are Vegan, the extra nutrients will do you good!. If you're not into it, at least get yourself some enriched bread!.
Cheese is a tough one!. Nutritional yeast is great in that it tastes very similar to cheese, and is just so great for you too!. Buy yourself a little and you'll find yourself sprinkling it on everything!. But it doesn't give you the same satisfaction as the melty processed cheddar you'd find on your takeout pizza!. I've heard of a brand called Sheeze that is remarkably just like the real thing but I haven't tried it personally!.

Don't worry about reading labels just yet--first cut out the obvious things, and make sure you're comfortable with the transition!. After that, here is a super helpful list of all that you should avoid that can just be downloaded into your ipod!.

Well, vegans don't eat animal products or by-products so by proxy, "all" you can really eat are

-veggies
-fruits
-legumes
-nuts

Now keep in mind that there are THOUSANDS upon thousands of vegetables, fruits, legumes, and nuts you can eat; a vegan diet doesn't have to be boring unless you want to!. It's not like all you can eat is a raw carrot!.!.!. you can take a couple carrots, some tofu, some green onions and chilis and sautee them in soy sauce and a garlic-ginger infused olive oil and serve it over rice!.!.!. boom! Stir fry!. You've got falafel with pita and hommus, you've got this and that and the other!. Plenty of options! I make vegan chili quite often; nearly all of the flavor that you love from most of those dishes come from the spices and sauces they are cooked in and not the meat!.

They do make soy-based cheese substitutes but I'm not too keen on them!. They're a bit off in terms of the flavor and often times I find them to taste more like almonds than cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tofu is one of my favorite foods, and I'm not even a vegan!. It can be prepared in a lot of ways, it's low calorie, high protein, inexpensive compared to meat, and good for the planet!.

But, that doesn't mean you will like it!. A good health food store will have it prepared in various ways, but sometimes trying it first in a Chinese restaurant is better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sainsbury's have a great vegan diet - http://www!.sainsburys!.co!.uk/food/special!.!.!. - see if any of these things are on your list!. There's even a link to The Vegan Society, which you might find helpful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tofu is a good ingredient!. As are rice and pasta!. But honestly, why on earth would you want to go down that path!. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and even she thinks that being vegan is way too harsh on yourself!. Each to their own and all that but it's really not a healthy lifestyle in all honestyWww@FoodAQ@Com

They have a brand which you can get at Tesco called 'Cheezly'!. I tried it once, but didn't like it much!. It tasted like cold/soft/damp Potato Waffles!. =/
I think it also comes in a type that you can melt too!. I haven't tried that, but it looks pretty edible!. XDWww@FoodAQ@Com

soy cheese
lentils
all kinds of beans and peas-protein
grains like oatmeal, barley, rice, quinoa, rye, etc!.-has protein
mushrooms
some kinds of bread
oil- olive oil and canola oil
nuts, peanuts, pecans, walnuts, etc - lots of protein
there are so many things to eat!!!

There are many vegan alternatives to dairy!. You can now buy vegan margarine, milk, cheese, ice-cream, yoghurt, chocolate!. Visit the AnimalAid website for info on going vegan (they also have a shop)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
