How to make tofu steak?!

Question: How to make tofu steak!?
I'm a vegetarian and yesterday I bought a tofu steak to try!. There are no directions on the container except to drain, cut, and cook!. I looked up ways to cook it but everything had seasonings and I wasn't looking for that!. I just want to know how to cook the tofu steak!. Like how long and what temperature pretty much!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm assuming since the instructions say drain, cut, and cook, you just mean tofu!. Tofu by itself is bland, so you will want some seasonings!. The cool part, is that it's like a sponge!. Once you drain it, you can use paper towels to get more of the water out, or bake it for a while to dry it out (the aim is to get the water out, not blacken it, so go with about 350F), then it can be sauteed or grilled with veggies and seasonings!. www!.101cookbooks!.com has some of my personal favorite recipes, click on http://www!.101cookbooks!.com/ingredient/t!.!.!. for tofu recipes specifically!. I recommend the caramelized tofu as a good beginner tofu recipe, all my friends love it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Exactly what do you mean by tofu "steak"!? Are you talking about plain white tofu!? Tofu is just about tasteless by itself!. You will need to flavor it with something (soy sauce, salad dressing or other marinade) unless you like really bland, tasteless food!. Tofu is already "cooked" (it's the soy equivalent of cheese, actually; the coagulated curds of soy milk) and you can just cube it, dribble a little soy sauce on it and eat it cold if you want!. Otherwise, just brown it in a non-stick skillet with a little oil!. I have also marinated tofu (in Italian dressing and soy sauce) and grilled it on the barbecue in a grilling basket!. It can also be marinated and baked, or stir-fried!. You don't have to worry about "cooking" it, you're basically just heating it up and/or browning it!.

If you are talking about some soy product that is processed, formed and colored to look like meat, check the package!. It will tell you how to cook it!.
