Some is, some isn't!.
No animal products are required to make bread, and you can certainly make your own vegan bread quite easily!.
Lots of store-bought breads have whey in them, which a component of milk and not a vegan food!. Some are made with butter, honey or eggs and are not vegan!. Many commercial breads contain dough conditioners listed as mono- and diglycerides or DATEM, which may be from plant or animal sources and most will not specify which!. You can either avoid them or contact the manufacturer to ask which type they use!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bread is a food that can be made with a variety of fats, including Lard!! Whey is derived from milk like previously mentioned, and can be produced involving the slaughter of the animal, rendering it not even vegetarian!. Butter frequently occurs in ingredients as can eggs, so always check!.

If you are in the UK, all Hovis bread is vegan and all Co-op bead is vegan too!.
Most other pre-packaged sliced bread is not as it contains mono and diglycerides of fatty acids which can be of animal or vegetable origin, usually if these are of vegetable origin, it will say so in brackets in the ingredient list!.
Best thing to do is, if in doubt, just don't buy it, most vegan products are labelled as suitable for vegans!.
Crazy isn't it how these mad animal ingredients get added unnecessarily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most are not but there are quite a few that are!.
White breads and hot dog/hamburger buns almost always contain milk ingredients!.
Wheat breads often contain honey, but there are a few that don't!.
French bread, Italian bread, and Sourdough are usually vegan, but once again check the ingredients!.
Store-bought tortillas are usually vegan, but some have lard!.
Pita breads are always vegan!.
There are a couple vegan bagels out there but I can't remember the company, maybe Lender's Bagels or Thomas' Plain Bagels!.
English Muffins are rarely vegan!. The only vegan ones I've seen are made by Ezekiel/Food For Life!.

You might as well ask if food is vegan!. Bread, by definition, is not exclusively vegan or non-vegan!. If the bread contains animal products, like milk, egg, or honey, which many breads do, then it is not vegan!. Some breads (usually the whole grain breads) do not contain animal products, and are therefore vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
A regular loaf of bread is just 4 ingredients- flour, water, yeast, and salt- none of which contain any animal products or milk!.
Usually sweet breads will contain milk, butter, etc!. However, a plain loaf of bread will just have those 4 ingredients!. Try another bakery or market and ask them for a listing of ingredientsWww@FoodAQ@Com
