Answers:
Advantage : You will not be exploiting nearly as many animals (although they are exploited in much the same way in the milk and egg industry)

Advantage: Since animal farming is a major cause of greenhouse gas emmissions, you'll be doing the planet a favour by cutting down on animal products:

"9% of global carbon dioxide emissions
35-40% of global methane emissions (chiefly due to enteric fermentation and manure)
64% of global nitrous oxide emissions, chiefly as a result of fertilizer use!.[6]"

Advantage: Meat is linked to various cancers, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and various things!.!.!. a vegetarian diet (vegan more so) is much healthier for your body!.

Disadvantage: People WILL persecute you for having some moral fibre

Disadvantage: The change in diet may disrupt your body for a while - don't worry though, this is bound to happen with any big change for better OR worse - if you get any problems, just stick them out for the couple of weeks they usually last and then your health can only improve!.

I do think it's hard at first, especially eating out!. Some restaurants don't have ANY vegetarian food and you get stuck eating 3 vegetable sides!. You'll want to know which restaurants have good vegetarian options around you and chains for when you travel!. It's a lot easier if you will still be eating eggs and milk!. Luckily there are a lot of meat substitutes from the store like morning star, boca, garden burger and a few other brands that you can just use in the place of meat!. Once you stop eating meat and get used to the meatless, you won't even be able to tell the difference anymore!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I used to eat meat for breakfeast and then became a vegetarian!. It wasn't really that hard!. If you are becoming a vegan it would probably be hard, but you still have options of cheese, fish and milk among others as a vegan!. Make sure to find protien supplements as that seems to be what most vegans are missing out on since they cut meat out of there diet!.

Watch the documentary Slaughterhouse: The Task of Blood and you will never want to touch a peice of meat again!. Thats what did it for me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only reason it will be hard is if you don't have any good vegetarian recipes or live in a small town without access to variety!. I notice that when I haven't been eating nutritious food that will replace what might be missing from meat, I start to crave it!. But once I eat right again, my craving disappears immediately!. So I think you just have to find foods that you really like and you will never miss meat!. Your cravings will probably steer you toward the foods that contain nutrients that you might be lacking!. If you crave a burger, then try a vegeburger first (one with plenty of iron & protein), & you won't crave a meat burger, even after the vegeburger has digested!. I belong to some vegetarian groups on meetup!.com & they trade recipes & go to veg restaurants I never knew existed!. also check out http://www!.pcrm!.org/health/veginfo/vsk/t!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is not all that hard, especially when you have so many fake meat options to start out with (which you hopefully will gradually shy away from) The main thing is resist the urge to eat meat or fish (yes folks you are not a vegetarian if you eat fish) which can be hard but if you eat veggies you like prepared how you like you are set!. If you are not a big salad person and all you eat is salad you will crave meat more but if you lets say like peanut noodles with broccoli and red pepper and eat that you will be happy (if you want a recipe for my crowd favorite peanut sauce let me know via PM) The really only disadvantage I see is you have to check labels carefully but you should really do that regardless of being veg!.

Once I became a vegetarian I had more energy and lost some weight (which was a positive effect for me because I had a bit of extra fat I didn't want) I feel better about myself and it has made me more conscious about what I am putting into my body and has got me too try things I wouldn't really eat when I was a meat eater and has made me a better chef/cook because I have tried working out meat recipes as vegetarian or veg recipes as vegan!. I highly recommend a vegetarian diet!.

As for your colon there is something called a "master cleanse" that a friend of mine did (and I don't like the idea but it seems to work and is popular) you take fresh lemon juice grade b maple syrup and cayanne pepper and drink that all day or something (no solids) then you drink laxative tea at night and have fun in the bathroom the next morning for about 10+ day you do this and it cleans out toxins in your colon and bodyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it will be hard!. I was a hardcore meat eater and went vegan cold turkey 4 years ago!. I craved meat all the time for the first 1 1/2 years!. But I fought the temptation! And now I never, ever crave meat and just the thought of eating it grosses me out!. Just remember to hang in there and remember why you became a vegetarian!. And don't be too hard on yourself if you mess up a few times in the beginning!. Nobody's perfect!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hard!. Yes!. If you get a meat craving (and you just can't take any more of those boca burgers) try a Portabello Mushroom burger!. Some restaurants have them, but you can find some good recipes online too!. Sooo delicious!.

And also, be careful!. If you're surrounded by meat (especially at dinner parties, thanksgiving, christmas etc!.) its going to take a LOT of will power to not eat it!Www@FoodAQ@Com
