Vegitarians, whats the point in becoming one?!

Question: Vegitarians, whats the point in becoming one!?
i mean, if its because you dont want animals to die, too late, wether you eat it or not, they kill the animalWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Well, vegetarians become vegetarian for a lot of different reasons!. Some people do it because it obviously causes animal suffering, and many people on this planet don't want to contribute to that!. It doesn't matter what they have in the grocery store; just because they have it, it doesn't mean you have to buy it!. Besides, as the demand for meat goes down, so will the supply!. Hence, less animal suffering, even though it will be decades before that's eliminated completely!.

Some of us do it for health reasons!. Meat stays in the system much longer than vegetables!. also, who would want to consume an animal who has already consumed pesticides and may have diseases!? You're subjecting yourself to any problems that creature may have had!.

Some vegetarians are concerned with the environment world hunger!. It takes a lot of land to raise cattle, so imagine if we saved much of that land and dedicated the rest to raising soybeans or other nutritious foods that can feed many more people than one animal could!?

Finally, some vegetarians do it for religious reasons!. Jains, Jews, Buddhists, Seventh-day Adventists, and even some other Christians (who believe "thou shall not kill") are vegetarian because it aligns with their beliefs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"i mean, if its because you dont want animals to die, too late, wether you eat it or not, they kill the animal"

Have you never heard of supply and demand!?

Meat and animal products won't be put on shelfs if people don't buy them!. Slaughterhouses don't kill animals if supermarkets won't buy them!. Farmers won't raise animals if slaughterhouses won't buy them!.!.!.

By not paying for meat and animal products, you are breaking a demand for them and putting less money in the hands of supermarkets!. slaughterhouses and farmers, who use those profits to maintain and expand their abusive business!.

Furthermore, by not using animals as if they were property, you are making a political point that others may choose to follow, thus decreasing the demand for animal products even more!.

To use 'it'll just go off on the shelf' as reasoning against veganism is to defy the most basic principle of business that happens all over the world!.

To say that one vegan won't make a difference is the same as saying one vote won't make a difference, except it's even more fallicious since the supermarkets, slaughterhouses and farmers WILL use the money you pay them to exploit more animals!.

When you give your money to these people, they will abuse more animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What are you!? like, 10!? The main point is to save animals, why would we even do that if we weren't saving them!? Every where, if people buy a lot of something, they need to get more of it to keep it going!. Yet if they don't buy it and it stays on the shelves, they don't need to bother bringing more in, just pure supply and demand!.

"wether you eat it or not, they kill the animal" soo untrue, 1 vegetarian/vegan saves a whopping 90-100 animals from going to the slaughterhouse, each year,,,to me that's an accomplishment!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was a Vegetarian for 4 years, I am now a Pescetarian!. I don't eat those animals because I believe that it is wrong for people to breed animals and raise them only to kill them and eat them!. I feel like a cannibal when I eat those animals, and I just think it is inhumane!. I couldn't even IMAGINE doing something like that to one of my pets, as I view them as part of my family, so I can't see how people would raise an animal only for that purpose!. It seems like they have no hearts, although they have their reasons!.

If I ate those animals, I would feel like I am a part of that!.

also, I only eat seafood because my mom says I need more protien, and I already don't eat that much as it is!. I also don't think it is AS inhumane because seafood is given a chance at life and I think that when they die, they are providing nutrition for us!. I don't eat most lobster or crab though, cause I always think of the lobster in the tanks at restaurants and it makes me sad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's not true!. There is such a thing as supply and demand!. If all the vegetarians in the world started to eat meat, you would see a lot more animals being processed because the demand would be so high!.

Our dollars/pounds/euros are telling the industry that we want more options!. And we are getting them!. Vegetarian options are now common and the vegetarian "meat" products are booming!. This is saving animals from being born that would have become food whether you like to believe it or not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not joining the Army doesn't prevent war!. However, people who are against war don't join the army!.

It's not about prevention so much as it is about not making an active contribution!. Unless everyone went vegetarian, there will always be demand for meat!. Where there is demand there will be supply!. In theory, the fewer people who eat meat, the fewer people who will buy it!. The lower the demand, the less supply required!.

I don't know about you, but I generally don't buy things that I don't want just because they're there!. Yeah, it's already been produced!. That doesn't mean that I need to purchase it!. Your logic is kind of weird!.

Www@FoodAQ@Com

I used to think this, too--even after I had become a vegetarian!. I can see how it's very easy to think that, but in reality, vegetarians help decrease the demand (and therefore the supply/killing) of animals for meat!.

Vegetarians save 95 lives per year!. EACH! Isn't that great!?

That's another reason it's not pointless!. It's so rewarding to be ableWww@FoodAQ@Com

I am a vegetarian for my conscious!. I hated the fact that i was contributing to animal suffering!. And knowing i was eating something dead grossed me out! I would love for slaughter houses and factory farms to just disappear but that's not really realistic!. So basically I am a vegetarian for myself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People are vegetarians because they think that if they don't eat animals, less animals will die, so they aren't killing them!. They think that they can make a difference, and that if a lot of people become vegetarians, they can stop killing animals forever!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

The earth will not be able to support the billions of people who will eventually inhabit it, unless we start eating plants and quit eating animals!.
We are feeding OUR food to animals and making gas out of corn!. That's nuts!.
32 pounds of corn can feed a lot more people than 1 pound of beef!. And, that's what it takes to grow one pound of beef!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

supply and demand!.
less people demand it, the supply will drop!.
more people demand it, the supply will rise!.

what's the point of being alive!? you're just going to die one day!.

what's the point of eating!? you're just going to be hungry again!.

so on and so on!.

why do you feel the need to attack our beliefs!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

My daughter made the conscious decision at 3 yrs old to become a vegetarian!. She is now 22 yrs!. old and still does not eat meat!. She just can't stand the thought of eating an animal!. That was here decision and I supported her 100%!. I am sure she is a lot healthier than some that indulge in fried fatty meats!. When you think about it, an animal is sort of gross to eat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

wow, maybe because some people don't feel like stuffing their face with a bunch of hormone loaded meat products!?

No one is forcing you to drop the cheeseburger, so why do you feel the need to post this asinine question!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just am sick of meat I do not really think it is necessary anymore and I will not give in to animal cruelty in those slaughter houses! They just do not kill them they torture them in inhumane ways!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
