If you read the ingredients, and do some research, you can find out what is in the food you are eating!. But I do not eat Mars, it is tested on animals! For more see, www!.marscandykills!.com!. Gelatine is usually in Turkish Delight, Jelly, and sometimes chewy sweets!. I wouldn't think gelatine would be in chocolate!. It is also not in home made chocolates, which are yes very tasty!. xWww@FoodAQ@Com
Mars, Snickers, Galaxy and other products from those companies (so Milky Ways, Twix) are not vegetarian because of the type of Whey they use!. Whey can either be derived from animal or diary!. In this case it's animal (goodness knows why they changed it!)!. In sweets like Skittles, the non vegetarian item is gelatine (but I believe Skittles are okay) but in chocolate, it's Whey power you have to keep an eye out for - but that goes for quite a lot of other foods as well like crisps (particularly cheese flavoured ones), biscuits, cheese (it's crazy but some cheddar cheese isn't vegetarian because of the Whey power in it) and cakes, amongst others!. Unless it's stated on the packet that the Whey power is derived from milk, or if it's stated vegetarian, I wouldn't eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, it is the gelatin that you have to be careful of and some Enumbers!. I suppose it depends on how thorough you want to be and how strict!.
also, I think that since it came out about the Mars bar they have passed a law that says all labels must show if a product is suitable for a vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some chocolates are made with animal oil such as lard Not all gelatin is of animal origin!.!. vegans will disagree cause locust bean gum comes about due to insects! Write to the company of the product to find out what they use in their product is best!. Or just go to your Local Health food store and find a product labeled for Vegans or Vegetarians!Www@FoodAQ@Com
If your a lacto-ovo vegetarian the main ingredient you have to watch out for is gelatin (boiled down cow hoofs!.) If your vegan you really have to be careful since some candies contain: animal based colorings and flavorings!. You can find milk and dairy in candies too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
In foods like skittles they use cochineal in the red colouring which is an animal product made from beetles of the same name (also often listed as E120), though some sweets are starting to use natural colouringsWww@FoodAQ@Com
im not sure about this but i believe that mars cant guarantee that the ingredients they use does not come from animals!. so they cant use the veggie symbol!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes your correct gelatin is used in a number of confectionery items!. Some veggies wont even drink dairy products which makes things harder!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Take in to a count that some sweets are polished with bees waxed, and some colours can be made with crushed beetle (cochineal)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Suggest you google the Vegetarian Society!Www@FoodAQ@Com
