Wool is not cool!
Shearing sheep involves more than just a haircut!. Because shearers are usually paid by volume rather than by the hour, they often work too fast and disregard the animal's welfare!. Sheep are routinely punched, kicked and cut during the shearing process!.
Much of the world's wool comes from Australia and New Zealand, where almost 140 million sheep each year undergo a gruesome procedure called "mulesing", in which huge gardening shears are used to slice chunks of skin and flesh off the backsides of live animals without anesthetics!.
Millions of sheep raised for wool in Australia and New Zealand are shipped to the Middle East for slaughter!. also intense sheep farming is responsible for the degradation of natural waterways and land habitats and for the emission of greenhouse gases, such as methane, into the atmosphere!.
When you buy wool products, it is likely that you are buying wool from sheep who were raised in Australia or New Zealand no matter what the label says!. Most wool is routed through China or Italy for processing, and product labeling rarely indicates where it originated!. However, sheep farming involves cruelty regardless of the country in which the animals are raised!.
Hope I helped and hopefully you will choose to not buy wool!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on your definition of torture!. Ever seen a fly blown sheep!? Not a pretty sight!. Blow fly maggots eating their way into the sheep!. The sheep's little bottom infected with maggots!.
Ever seen a sheep that hasn't been shorn for a couple of seasons!. Sheep have been cross bred and improved to a state where, if they are not shorn that have masses of fleece that weighs them down!. They get insects nesting in it, burrs and brush caught in it!. Not nice!.
I would be more worried about the possibility that the "cute peacoat" was made in an asian sweatshop using child labour!. Or, the dye used in the product was a carcinogenic!.
Search the web and read some of the articles on vegetables having "feelings" too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you can live with out it it would be better not to support the industry!. You are right and they are tortured!. Whether it is from Australia or not when it comes to money the industries will abuse the animals at any cost!. Stick with your heart and do with out it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Vegetarians can use wool It's vegans who don't use it!. If it's an American company I don't think the wool would be from Australia!. We have our own sheep farms!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Very un-veg and it's too hard to find out where the wool is from!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
i dont think its from austrailia and it wouldnt be mean because the sheep arnt killed to get it and it grows backWww@FoodAQ@Com
