Do you think it is wrong to decide eating habits (regarding vegetarianism) for your children?!

Question: Do you think it is wrong to decide eating habits (regarding vegetarianism) for your children!?
Answers:
My plan is to raise my kids vegan, and then when they are older if they want to try meat or dairy I will let them!. If they want to continue eating it, they will be allowed to, but the meals I cook them will be vegan since I am vegan!. If they ask to order a dish with meat or dairy at a restaurant, they'll be allowed to; if they put meat or dairy on a grocery list I'll buy it for them; if they want to buy meat or dairy dishes with their lunch money that's their choice!. Basically I believe that it is your duty as a parent to try to teach your kids about proper nutrition, but ultimately you shouldn't try to prevent your kids from eating anything (unless it's total junk food), because they must make their own decisions and learn healthy eating habits for themselves!. Well maybe you need to ask yourself do you think its right to take animals that would generally be happy and peaceful grazing in pastures, or rolling around in the dirt, caring for THEIR young, and put them in tiny cages, or pens, where they can't even turn around, some may never see daylight, force them to live in unsanitary and unhealthy conditions (living in their own feces for instance), then pump them full of chemicals, harmful pharmaceuticals (both to them AND the humans that eat them) and antibiotics, because since you put them in these horrible conditions, they get sick easily, and then eventually being sent out for slaughter, where some animals are pulled apart still alive, or dunked into tanks filled with scalding boiling water so that their skin is more easily removed!. also lets not forget the under-trained, underpaid, and overworked employees these big corporate factory farms hire, where the production line is going so fast that they don't have enough time to separate all the different bloody organs from the meat, resulting in things like, feces (yea thats right there is **** in meat), or intestines, and other parts in an omnivores ground meat, as well as that (far from) tasty steak one may have eaten last week!. Oh don't forget about those nasty pharmaceuticals and growth hormones! No amount of cooking gets rid of that either, hell they can't even find a way to filter that from our drinking water!.

So in other words!.!.!. I think I am being a good parent by being aware of what my children are putting into their bodies!. And a lot of other people are unaware, and some don't even care enough to know what they are REALLY eating!. And parents from the beginning are required to decide eating habits!. Thats part of being a parent!. Do YOU let your children make all their own decisions about what they eat!? And if you do, are they healthy, and do they have any teeth left!? I think that the healthiest choice is the best choice for our children!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Parents decide most things for their children (i!.e!.) what religion to be, what school to attend, what teams to support etc…so why should food be any different!.

Hopefully switched-on parents can see how healthy a vegetarian or vegan diet is for their children and so want to give them the best start in life!.

Many of the diseases in the world today, develop from eating unhealthy foods (processed flour, sugar, caffeine, sodas, meat, fried chips) which is what most children and adults eat!.

So I would much prefer giving my children a head start in the health stakes by encouraging the intake of fresh fruit and fresh vegetables from a young age!. It will give them good habits for life!.

No!.
If i think being veg is healthy, compassionate and wonderful, why wouldn't I have my child be that way!? I'm not pushing them into drugs at an early age, and it's not like they can't *ever* eat meat!.

I think it's perfectly fine!. I plan to raise my kids vegetarian!. Kids can't make the best decisions for themselves, parents need to!.

Another thing, I was raised half muslim, so we didn't ever eat pork!. My parents decided that for me, and I have never eaten pork to this day (and never will 'cause i'm veg now) i NEVER felt like i was missing out!. in fact, i felt special!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, when they become adults, they can buy whatever food they want!.

If you punish a child for eating meat, they are probably more likely to rebel and eat it more when they are teenagers!. I will educate my kids and they will make their own decisions when they are away from us but at home there will be no animal products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes!
one thing is when you don't let your child eat junk food because its unhealthy for them but not allowing them to eat meat is wrong!.if they want to eat meat and other non-vegetarian products they should !.
what if someone told you that you cannot eat vegetables and fruits and nuts and!.!.!.!.!.!.!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

nope!.!.unless a parent makes their child be vegan!.!.!.despite what pure vegans have to say children NEED cow milk and protein from animal sources as they grow!.!.they dont need meat but they do need eggs, milk, etc!.!.!.i would like to raise my children when i have as vegetarians but i wouldnt force them to be vegansWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a vegan and I don't want kids, but if I were to have a child I wouldn't buy them any animal product, but if they wanted to try it once I explained to them all the reasons why I'm a vegan, then by all means they can buy it for themselves and I wouldn't be upset!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Personally, i think people who feed their kids the american diet should be arrested!. It is wrong for people to live that way!.

My children will be vegan from start and told about how horrible it is for you to eat meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!.
Everyone decides things like that for their children!. If people insisted on letting their children decide what to eat, they would all die as toddlers!.

No I don't!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
