Can eating Tofu effect your hormones?!

Question: Can eating Tofu effect your hormones!?
Seems like every time I eat it my cycle gets weird (and I only eat it every few months) could this merely be a coincidence, or is it possible that I'm really sensitive to it!?

Just wondering
ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Ha - that's the first time I've seen the carrot king give an answer that didn' start with "Enjoy the wholesome goodness of carrots!.!.!.!." But anyway, soy can have a slight impact on your hormones, but so can many other foods with phytoestrogens:

"According to a study by Canadian researchers about the content of nine common phytoestrogens in a Western diet, foods with the highest relative phytoestrogen content were nuts and oilseeds, followed by soy products, cereals and breads, legumes, meat products, and other processed foods that may contain soy, vegetables, fruits, alcoholic, and nonalcoholic beverages!. Flax seed and other oilseeds contained the highest total phytoestrogen content, followed by soy bean and tofu!." - Wikipedia

It is possible that what you're noticing is real if you are very sensitive, but I would imagine that it is a coincidence!. Eating soy every couple of months should not have a substantial enough influence on your hormones to affect your cycle!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's possible, but I don't think it has any negative effect on fertility!. Think about all of the Asians in the world who have been eating large amounts of soy for thousands of years!. They hardly have fertility problems!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It could!. Tofu is made from soy and soy contains phytoestrogens (dietary estrogen)!. For more information Google "phytoestrogens"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it does!. Make sure to enjoy in moderation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
