Being vegan consists of absolutely no animal products whatsoever!. So milk, honey, butter or anything made with these things is a no go!. There are many products out there that are vegan friendly!. My in laws are vegan and they still eat great!. If you like vegetables you are in great shape!. You should start trying tofu products and see which ones you like!. There are butter, sausage ,burger, milk(soy and almond)cheese, sour cream, cream cheese and many more like substitutes that you would not know they were tofu products unless someone told you!. I have made fettuccine alfredo with meat tofu and many more things!. It will take some experimenting on your part to see what type of diet you want and what best suits what you are trying to achieve!. Get used to reading ingredients on packages to make sure that you do not buy something that consists of animal products!. These tofu products are a little more expensive than others but consist of the necessary things your body needs to keep healthy and still eat lots of vegetables!. Good Luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I agree with your first poster!. Check out those sites, and I'm sure that more sites are available with either links from there or from further googling!.
Usually going vegan has to do with avoiding anything and everything that has come from an animal!. Milk, eggs, meats are all vegan no-no's!. Plants, legumes, fruits, and veggies are serious staples!. Any products that are made with milk or eggs or meats are either reworked or avoided all together!. I!.E!. - puddings would instead be made with animal product free egg substitutes and soy milk!.
If you are truly serious about this, then I wish you the best of luck!. It cannot be easy to change even with being a vegetarian in the first place!. But there are ways to still get the nutrients you need and be healthy - and tall if it's in the chromosomes!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try veganism by all means, I'm a strict vegetarian and tried to go vegan!. I did it for about 6 weeks and just kept getting colds etc, as my immune system instantly became very weak!. It's very restricting and you will probably feel effects once you go vegan such as tiredness and low energy, due to total lack of protein, which, yes, will prevent you from growing properly at such a young age as 15!. Long-term effects of a vegan's lack of protein include osteoporosis (brittle bone disease), at any age, which is bad bad news!.
So if you decide to do it take iron and protein supplements! I'm not gonna lie to ya, the fake cheese is just terrible, but the vegan butter is okay, and the milk is kinda nasty at first but you can get used to it!.
Cows on regular family farms seem to like to be milked! And you could go one step further and buy your eggs from a local farmer, then you know they really are free range chickens, who have layed the eggs naturally!.!.!. but i understand you wanting to go vegan as a veggie!. I personally just found it wasn't worth it and i felt so undernourished!. You can look in supermarkets like tesco (if you're in english!?!?!), and they have stuff like dairy and egg free bourbon biscuits and apple pies!!!!
You will generally end up eating tons of carbs too, and that's not greatly healthy either!.
I would advise you to try it if you really believe in it, because no one else can make your mind up for you!. But don't just be swayed or guilted by sites like the PETA (e!.g!. they say: "if meat is murder then dairy is rape"!), as the things they tell you can be untrue, or exaggerated, as obviously, they want to turn everyone vegan!
Perhaps try being vegan for a trial period, then see how it affects you and if you want to continue!.
Decide your views on dairy products for yourself, try to think about it rationally, logically, and emotionally, and weigh up the pros and cons of veganism!. And: do your research!
It will be a lot harder than you think!.
Hope this helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The problem you may face is b-vitamin deficiency!. You can take a multivitamin to supply this but I do believe most comes from animal sources!. There are specialty powders that contain enzymes/bacteria that supply b vitamins but they might be difficult for you to get depending on your location!.
Since you're still growing mentally/physically you'll want to make sure you're not lacking any nutrients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is a bunch of food you can eat that is vegan!.
www!.vegsource!.com
and go to recipes to find a bunch of ideas!.
also, that person that linked a bunch will help too!. As far as eating, i've been it for 3 months now and there is a bunch of food!.
What it consists of, someone posted but i dont think he understood it!. There are two sides of vegan!. First side is for animal protection!. Those people basically dont eat meat because they feel it is not nice to animals!. I personally couldn't care less about animals!.
Second (my reason), for health!. Basically you want to stay away from meat and dairy!. Thats it!. Honey is fine!. Here is some examples!. First realize we live on a calorie diet!. We should consume X calories a day (10 times your body weight)!. So 2% milk is 2% fat by weight!. Look at the label, it is actually 38% fat by calories!. You look at total calories, then calories from fat, that is the ration, it should be around 10%!. So 2% milk is very unhealthy!. Not to mention the protein from it makes your bone brittle!.
Lets take chicken breasts, it has at best, about 18-22% fat by calories!. This is not very healthy at all!.
Here is what one doctor said about health in general
health = nutrients / calories
our health is determined by how many nutrients we can get by how many calories we have to intake!. So things that are right in nutrient and low in calories are good!. So peanuts are good, dark green veggies are very good!.
But vegan is a very difficult but VERY healthy lifestyle!. Look up how plan it!. also pick up a multi vitamin as B12 is difficult to get!.
It grows on plants, but we wash all our plants so you can't really get it from plants!. So cows eat these plants that aren't sprayed, and then their meat absorbs it and then people eat the meat!. That is how B12 gets into normal diets!. So for vegans, you more or less need a supplement for that!.
Hope this helps, good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
