It seems that B vitamins are highly related to hair!.

I have had thinning hair too!. Due to being vegan or not, I didn' t know!. I know lots of my friend that are either fully bald or going bald and they are not vegan at all!. I tried changing my diet in many ways, adding more B Vitamins for one!.!.!. herbs, vitamins, supplements, scalp stimulation, !.!.!. shampooing more, shampooing less, !.!.!.!. And nothing over the years helped!. Well, I went on a working holiday vacation for one year in a different country!. I always thought of myself as being totally free of stress, but I discovered that I felt totally relaxed and that I was actually very stressed out without knowing it, because it was just such a part of my daily life!. I was SOOOO free of stress that I was amazed at how fully relaxed (I can't think of a better word to describe the feeling -- it was like nirvana or something) I found that my thinning hair is completely connected to stress!. After my year vacation, my hair had grown back!. My closest friend was amazed!. Slowly it started thinning again over the years, but about 6 months ago, I had the most stressful traumatic event of my life happen and I was so stressed out that I became physically sick for a good two months straight -- I was stressed to the max!.!.!. my world was flip turned upside down, I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, still had to go to work!.!.!. and my hair started falling out really fast!. Stress is physical and hormonal!. I guess it just stimulates testosterone, which is apparently what hinders the growth of hair on one's head (but seems to stimulate the growth of hair on the eyebrows and ears and other odd places, huh!?!?)!. I find it very difficult to shake the daily stress of life unless I'm totally removed from it all!.

Female hormonal problems also cause hair loss!. Your hair can literally start falling out in huge clumps when female hormones are thrown out of whack!. Pregnancy being the most obvious time this happens!.

If you want to take a vitamin just in case, try spirulina!. It has all you could ever need, plus it's not manufactured in a lab (i!.e!. fake vitamins), it's a whole food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your diet looks great!.

Hair goes through growth and death cycles!. Could it be you are just noticing it more lately!?

The fact is, hair loss is genetic and unless you are suffering from allopecia, thyroid disease or undergoing chemotherapy the hair loss is probably a natural process for you!.

If you continue to be concerned about it, see your physician to check out the possibility of an underlying health issue!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not a vegetarian, but it probably is some kind of nutrient you're not getting!. I would advise going to your local Health store that carries vitamins and minerals for different purposes including your hair and consult with them about what you possibly need!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hair loss is a big problem in the vegetarian community!. Your lacking important nutrients!. You should try to enjoy the wholesome goodness found in carrots!. Carrots usually help prevent hair loss!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am curious, how it was your hair ,in your infancy!?It is a personal gene!.This it is learned at school!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Biotin is in meat and lack of it will make your hair thin!. A multi doesn't have enough so you need an extra supplementWww@FoodAQ@Com

lack of iron and vitamins from no red meatWww@FoodAQ@Com

It may not be diet related at all (in fact the diet may be beneficial keeping it from being worse) but possibly caused from a thyroid malfunction instead!.

There are a number of other reasons too!. I'm going to assume you're female from your avatar!. So, no doubt this is not something you expect from getting older as a man might be prone to, but females also suffer from "Male Pattern Baldness" patterns due to aging (we have testosterone as well)!. Or it could just be seasonally based!.

What I understand is our hair follicles are active and grow hair for 1 to 4 years then go dormant for a while, about 6 months then shed the hair that was there before starting again!. That's why some people are never able to grow their hair very long!. As we age the length of time for the cycle shortens!. Pregnancy also delays the dormancy part of the cycle which is why women talk about having thick and luxurious hair then and go through a panic after when it all catches up after the birth!.

But, I did find these sites for you while looking it up at Wiki:Www@FoodAQ@Com

You mention that you eat a lot of soy-that could be causing you a hormonal imbalance (usually thyroid), which could cause hair loss!. Soy is evil stuff, despite all of the health claims about it!. First, almost ALL soy has been genetically modified, so its no longer a natural food-its been spliced with the DNA of all sorts of things that have no business in the human food chain (google GMO soy for more info) Soy also alters hormone chemicals, and can wreak havoc on your thyroid and adrenal glands!. Ask your doctor to check your thyroid, but specify that you want a COMPLETE THYROID PANEL!. They usually just check your TSH level, which is not enough to indicate thyroid problems if they have just started!. In the mean time, take your temperature several times a day and write down the results (always check it when you have not eaten, drank, or smoked for at least 1 hour) If your temp is below normal (98!.6) consistently, its likely that your thyroid is out of balance!. also start thinking about using alternatives to soy-its bad news all the way around!. Soy is the leading cause of adult onset food allergies, which can really complicate your life!. I ate alot of soy when I first went veggie many years ago-now, I am allergic to all sorts of things, such as wheat, soy, corn, eggs etc!., all because of the GMO soy!. Best to avoid it altogether, in my opinion!. Because of my allergies, I too am very strict about what I eat or don't eat, but my health is much better for the effort!. Feel free to email me if you need more info!. Good luck!

note: pay no attention to the people who say you need meat-they haven't clue one what they are talking about, and shouldn't be giving advice about things they know nothing about!. A well balanced vegetarian diet is very healthy!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You poor thing! First ask yourself if you are eating a balanced diet!. I'm not saying you have anorexia/bullemia, but many people with food disorders lose hair and skin quality!. Check if you are receiving the following regularly:

*Vitamin A - Antioxidant that helps produce healthy sebum in the scalp!. Daily Dose: 5,000 IU!.
*Vitamin C - Antioxidant that helps maintain skin & hair health!.
Daily Dose: 60 mg!.
*Vitamin E - Antioxidant that enhances scalp circulation!. Daily dose: Up to 400 IU!.
*Inositol - Keeps hair follicles healthy at the cellular level!. Food sources: Whole grains, brewer's yeast and citrus fruits!. Daily Dose: Up to 600 mg!.
*Niacin (Vitamin B3) - Promotes scalp circulation!. Food sources: Brewer's yeast, wheat germ!. Daily dose: 15 mg!. Warnings:
*Vitamin B6 - Prevents hair loss, helps create melanin, which gives hair its color!. Food sources: Brewer's yeast, whole grain cereals, vegetables and egg yolk!. Daily dose: 1!.6 mg!.
*Vitamin B12 - Prevents hair loss!. Daily dose: 2 mg!.

Other factors to consider are:
Have you over treated your hair with chemicals and/or harsh products!?
Are you under a lot of stress at the moment!?
Have you been ill!?
Have you ruled out lupus, underactive thyroid, eating disorders and diabetes!?
Are you on other medications which may have this side effect!?

Perhaps you could speak to a nutritionist and ask about a balanced veggie diet!. I wish you the best in solving this problem!.
