Is it hypocritical for a vegetarian?!

Question: Is it hypocritical for a vegetarian!?
to get uggs!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I JUST REALISED YOU SAID UGGS AND NOT EGGS!

It's cruel to get ugg boots - why exploit and abuse innocent animals when you can just get another pair of shoes!? It's wrong for anyone to exploit animals, but it's especially hypocritical for a vegetarian to do so!.

In case you DID mean eggs:

I'm afraid so!. Being vegetarian is an improvement on meat-eating, but eating eggs is still causing horrific exploitation, abuse and suffering to animals!.

Even hens in 'free-range' and 'organic' systems are treated much the same way as caged and battery hens and 'meat' animals!.

I've been to an 'organic' egg farm recently, the farmer reliquished his stock with a sudden change of heart!. The group I was with saved 10,000 birds from the slaughter they would otherwise face!. We did the rescuing ourselves, and recovered the birds from the barn and took them to sanctuaries and caring homes across the UK!. The floor was comprised of filthy bars, under which was a six foot drop to piles of feces!. Needless to say, it stunk in there - it stung my eyes and many of the volunteers wore face masks!. The hens were so cramped in that they had underdeveloped wings - not even enough room to stretch!. They fought each other out of boredom and for some pathetic attempt at claiming territory - many of them had feathers missing and sore and cracked skin!. The food looked like dried pond sludge and circulated on a conveyer belt once a day!. They were in a pitious state!.

Words like 'compassionate' and 'humane' mean very little!. The reality is much different from the advertising!. I believe the law with 'free-range' hens is that they have to have just 16 days outdoors a year!. Egg-laying hens only live for 18 months!. After that they are slaughtered, when they could actually live to around a decade!. Hens are even starved for weeks to manipulate their egg-laying cycle!.

Perhaps even more disturbing is what happens to males in the egg industry!. Since they only want females to lay eggs, day old (that is when they can be sexed) male chicks are macerated (ground-up alive), gassed or literally just chucked away!. You can see pictures of this easily enough, just type 'male chicks' into Google Images and the page is full of it!.

Eggs aren't even healthy!. 1 contains almost a whole day's cholesterol!. There's nothing in eggs you can't get elsewhere, and everything but fried eggs can be replicated with replacements!. There are literally dozens of ways to emulate eggs in baking and loads of other foods to replace them in your diet!. Protein is perfectly adaquate in a balanced vegan diet!.

I'm very glad that you've come forth and asked this question, it shows that you are naturally curious and open-minded!. I hope you will see the reality of the egg (and dairy) industry and make the good choice to become vegan, for the animals' sake!.

I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions about the egg industry or veganism please feel free to e-mail me!.

Are you talking about the Uggs Boots!? I don't think it's hypocritical, vegetarianism or veganism is about your diet, what you put in your body, not your wardrobe, what you put on it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

YES!. but only if you're veg for ethical reasons!. if you don't give a rat's tush about animals, just poop a lot when you eat their tortured flesh, then it's whatever!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Shelby thought you misspelled egg!. But JoLynn11 is right!. It depends on why you're a veggie!. If you're veggie for health reasons, not necessarily!. Ethical reasons, yes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, because chickens lay eggs everyday fertilized or not!. So there is not a baby growing in the eggs!. And you can get cruelty free made eggs meaning they actually take good care of the chickens!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you don't eat meat on because it is cruel to animals then yes!. if you don't eat meat because you don't like meat then noWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, that would be supporting the death of animals and encouraging itWww@FoodAQ@Com
