Answers:
Quite often you will find animal fat in those products!.

Personally though, I have no trouble finding vegetable fat based soaps and make-up, cosmetic items and hygiene items that are not only earth-friendly but affordable and vegetarian-friendly!.

Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, http://www!.veganstore!.com, http://www!.ethicalplanet!.com, and even everyday places like Target and TJ Maxx carry beauty products that, if you check the label, will conform to your ethical beliefs!. I'm happy to say I found this awesome sandalwood soap from TJ Maxx, three bars for four dollars (and these are the nice big luxurious bars) and the packaging proudly stated they don't contain animal ingredients, nor do they test on animals!.

Just print out a list from a site like

http://www!.veganwolf!.com/index!.html

, there's a list there that lists all animal byproducts and ingredients that might sneak into a label!. Look for animal-free, cruelty-free, vegetarian, and other words on labels!. Read ingredients!. And remember, you don't have to spend a fortune, look for good buys, buy in bulk if you find a great deal and enjoy!.
