Is fish a good or bad idea?!
I'm a new vegetarian as of about 2 months ago!. I've kept all poultry, meat and fish out of my diet up until this point!. I'm torn between allowing or banning fish from my life; As I've read as many good things as bad when it comes to the impact fish has on your health!. Could someone help me make a decision!? I decided to become a vegetarian, not only for animal rights, but also to improve my health!. Thank you for all answers in advance!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Interesting question!.
Per se, a few mouthfuls of fish per week are, unfortunately for most veggies and vegans out there, likely to have little impact on health!. There's no doubt that certain omega 3 fats for example are found richly in fish for example, along with fairly good quality protein!.
That being said, the case for fish in diets, as a source of these nutrients, is frequently overstated!. Omega 3s are also present in quinoa and flaxseed (almost never revealed in most advertising and public health campaigns!. I wonder why!)!. Eating these regularly is more than sufficient to prevent any deficiencies!. Plant protein, as long as the diet is varied, is just as good as from any animal sources too!.
Perhaps more a reason to give up fish is not to give continued support to overfishing, which is devastating fish stocks around the world, and causing fishing businesses to become bankrupt at a high rate!. Not to mention the damage to aquatic ecosystems commercial fishing fleets cause to the sea bottom and to other marine species by their efforts!. It's a disgrace!.
also, there is at least some evidence that fish are capable of suffering, and feel pain when suffocated as they are pulled from the water!. Not a pleasant fate in the slightest!.
Fish are not a magic health food as claimed: they are simply a food with certain nutrients, like any other!. I think that given that nutrients from fish can be obtained from elsewhere, for the reasons given, it's better to avoid fish!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

An article recently came out that many "experts" think the so called Mediterranean Diet is the healthiest!. It is a largely plant based diet but includes a good amount of fish!. The article came out on MSN I think!.
"Vegetarian" is just a word used to describe those who eat plant foods only!. If you are not a vegetarian but satisfied with your health, does it really matter!? Besides, being a vegetarian does not guarantee you anything!.
But you could be perfectly healthy by being a "strict" vegetarian by following a diet that does not include meat (including fish and poultry) or meat by products!. But you have to work at it just like any diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no vegetarian eats fish or any kind of seafood!. you can not call your self a vegetarian if you do!. you are pescatarian!.
if you became a vegetarian for animal rights, then you will be a hypocrite if you do eat seafood!. fish suffer enormously when they are caught!.
it's people like you who call themselves 'vegetarian', but still eat seafood and/or poultry who ashame real vegetarians!.
and yes, just because some seafood doesn't have a 'face', it doesn't make them ok or acceptable to eatWww@FoodAQ@Com

If you have objections to eating fish you could always go with various sea arthropods such as crab and shrimp!. These are essentially sea insects!. If you wish you could include hard-shelled mollusks!. This diet, along with plenty of leafy greens, veggies, fruits, and beans would be most in-line with our Great Ape ancestors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
