as long as you arent vegan proteing isnt the issue!. most americans get way more protein than what they need which isnt nessarily a good thing!. you can easily get enough by eating eggs, milk, tofu, peanuts and dairy alone!. the main problem seems to be protein!. as you are a female it seems, you deffinately have to be sure that you are getting enough as you dont want to be anemic!. if you have gotten your period already then you have to be carreful!. you can get iron from beans, lentils, legumes, and green vegetables!. it would probably be a good idea to take a multivitamins, theydo have ones made for vegetarians!. also, b12 is an issue as it is mostly found in meat!. green vegetables have b12 in them so be sure to eat spinach cuz that has lots!. as for your concernabout the subway, they do actually have a vegetarian sub thats actually good!. just ask and theyll tell you!. you cant eat gravy cuz it has animal fat!. also, their are lots of candies that you cant eat as a vegetarian because they contain lard!. go to the peta website and they will tell you what you can and cant have!. i know that all mars chocolate like snickers and twix aent allowed and neither are m&m's!. sorry my answer is so long!. you can email me anytime if you have any questions or anything!. my email is:

no you dont have to stop eating sandwiches from subway you can still get a 'veggie sandwich' (everything BESIDES meat) which is a $5 foot-long :] but if you want 'meat' on it you can buy 'vegetarian meat' from various stores!.!.
and you get your protein from many things
nuts (almonds are my faves)
black beans
and cheese, and milk!.!.
good luck hun! and congrats on becoming a veggie!! :D

i don't eat anything that an animal had to DIE for ( like the fat)!.
you should discuss you going vegitarian with ur parents, i was a vegitarian for 3 months before my parents knew and they under stood once i gave them a reason!. (The reason i don't eat meat is #1 i don't like animal crulety #2 i won't eat something i won't kill,)
they understood that, so when we go on road trips i end up eating a dollar salad and nothing else for the rest of the day (no dressing, i hate it) but sometimes we stop 4 eggs!. i normally don't eat much but if you eat more then me, then you should considerd eating chicken, but no cows or pork ,only fowl, that's called a red-meat vegitarien,( but i wouldn't kill a chicken so i don't eat fowl)

Vegetarians do not eat anything made with animal fat, lard, soups made with meat stocks, etc!. You also don't eat cheese made with rennet or products that contain gelatin!.
On vacation, you are still a vegetarian!. You find vegetarian options at restaurants you go to!. When you go over to someone's house, you tell them you are a vegetarian beforehand!. Burger King has a veggie burger, Subway has Veggie Delite!. McDonald's has fruit and yogurt parfaits and salads!. Homestyle places will often have foods like baked potatoes, cheese sticks, macaroni and cheese, etc!.
You can still have sandwiches - cheese or vegetable sandwiches!. If you're not having cheese on a sandwich, I recommend using a spread on the bread like hummus or pesto to add some extra flavor!.
You can have pasta dishes, vegetable stir-fries, many Asian dishes, etc!. You may want to get a vegetarian cookbook!. I've heard that the Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook is good and it may fit best with the types of foods you are used to eating!. I have Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone by Deborah Madison, and that is also a good resource!. Or look through the cookbooks you have for vegetarian recipes or recipes that you can make without meat!.
As for protein, if you eat a varied diet with enough calories, you will be getting enough protein!. There is protein in just about everything you eat - it is not hard to get enough!. Most people just eat way more protein than they need, and it's not good for you!. If you continue eating dairy and eggs, you will be getting about as much protein as anyone else does!. Milk, cheese, eggs, soy products, whole grains, beans, lentils, nuts, etc!. are all good sources!.
