Considering becoming vegan (from veggo)? Opinions please. ?!

Question: Considering becoming vegan (from veggo)!? Opinions please!. !?
I'm undecided because there are plenty of strong reasons each way (in my situation)!. If you could give me your opinion or personal stories to help me decide that would be great! Thanks

FOR:

I agree 100% with the vegan ethic re health, animals and the environment
My diet is very close to vegan already - foodwise there would be no sacrifice!. I only allow small amounts of egg/dairy to slip in when I want to avoid arguments or drawing attention to myself; that's the only reason
I have a few vegan friends who can help me along

AGAINST:

Currently I can show people that you can be vegan-inclined without actually being vegan, which is an effective way to dispel the all-or-nothing polarity between vegans and carnivores!.
I suffer from low self-esteem and don't express myself very well - when I talk to people I could come across as a hardliner or weak, and I don't want to give veganism that image!.
For the same reason I may feel overwhelmed by the (real or imaginary) disapproval of other people!. I already find myself constantly apologising for refusing veggie soup made with beef stock
I may find myself with even more obligation to constantly defend my position, something I am terrible at and don't want to do
I would not be able to accept many foods or meals at functions with my friends, and people might think I'm being picky
I'd make things a little more difficult for my family - my dad has given me enormous support as a veggo, and we'd have to start separating even more of our meals!. People I stayed with would find it harder to accommodate me

well, those are all really good reasons, but in the end it is all up to you, you have a choice to make and either way you benefit!. but if i had to choose i would say stay veggo because of the way you described yourself and of your reasoning about other people accomidating you!. but it doesnt make a difference, both are wonderful choices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"animal cruelty" and "meet ur meat"

"You ask people why they have deer heads on the wall!. They always say, Because it's such a beautiful animal!. There you go!. I think my mother's attractive, but I have photographs of her!."
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
One can't be a true environmentalist and still be eating animal products!. Today's "modern agriculture", egg industry and dairy industry are just as cruel as the slaughterhouses, veal, pork, beef,turkey farms etc!.
All are simple facts, so can anyone justify still eating meat!?!?

10 Main Reasons for going VEGAN!.

* 1) Animal products are unnecessary!.
* 2) What you eat is a learned habit!.
* 3) Much healthier to avoid meat and dairy products!.
* 4) Much more environmentally friendly to eat a vegan diet!.
* 5) Feed more people on a plant diet than animal based one!.
* 6) Using animals is incredibly cruel!. Why force any pain!?
* 7) Religion/ spiritual reasons "Thou shalt not kill!."
* 8) Saves money!.!.!.!.
* 9) Reduces National debt!.
* 10) Vegan food tastes great!
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
You're telling your "excuses" though already having a few vegan friends who can help me along!. Me, my wife and 2 kids are alone here doing veganism!. We have no vegetarian friends or relatives here!. Most of my friends are omnis, but few of them are slowly considering veganism!. But they all are my REAL friend!. How!? I'd never ever objected them from eating ANY kind of food whenever go for outing!. But generally they stick to vegetarianism (at least try to exclude that little flesh from plate) whenever i'm around!. They know i'm allergic to cruelty!. Many of them had downloaded compassion videos from my iphone!.

My 5 y/o daughter is in nursery now!. As i know she's only vegan there!. Indeed everyone there including teachers are omnis!. No vegan meal provided there!. My wife packs meal for her daily!. I know her friends /teachers are regarding her as "peculiar"!.

My 9 y/o son is in primary 3!. He had never came across with any vegetarian friends so far!. Hope he will turn few friends to vegans soon!. He planed to form a "vegan society" at his school!. I know it's really a challenging task for a 9y/o boy!.

To be frank, everyone of them never heard the word "vegan" before!. We are going thru the "transition" now!.

In this context, YOU are much FORTUNATE than many of us here!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
