Vegetarianism psychology?!

Question: Vegetarianism psychology!?
I have recently being having a lot of problems with eating meat, I have always eaten meat but now even though I want to eat it just the thought of it makes me feel sick to my stomach!. I am finding this quite difficult because while I have always been an animal lover I never had a problem with eating meat and I am not sure what to eat cause I don't know what eat!.

I always thought that being a vegetarian was a choice that people made and was not something that was forced on you!. If anybody else is a vegetarian would they please share their experiences in becoming one and if anybody knows of anywhere that I can find information on what has happened to me that would be great too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you just saw the light is all!. the serious thought of torturing animals then eating is horrific, but is just kind of ignored because people don't want the inconvenience of becoming a vegetarean!. i'm a vegetarean and sometime i crave meat, i mean it tastes good, but then i think of it going into my body and i just can't do it!. there is nothing wrong with that!. there are so many options without meat!. pastas, salads, soups, beans, pizza, veggie burgers, quesidillas so many choices, not eating meat is not the end of the world i promise!. and if one day you decide to eat meat, okay, your choice, no biggie Www@FoodAQ@Com

A friend of mine recently found out she was allergic to meat protiens and had to become a vegetarian - it was not a life long allergy but developed in her 20s!. If you are starting to get this allergy it's possible that you don't notice the effects yet, but your body does, which is why it sends signals to your brain to make just thought of meat make you sick!.

Get a vvegetarian cook book and start cutting out different types of meat a few days at a time!. See if you feel better after just cutting out some kinds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I personally think some people should eat meat while others shouldn't!. I have reduced the amount of meat I eat due to health problems!. I basically feel better without it!. You might look at the Blood Type Diet books!. According to that theory, I am blood type A and I am suppose to be a vegetarian!. If you do not eat meat, you will need to think about how you are going to get your protein!. You need protein!. Beans, Dairy, Soy, Tofu, and Mushrooms are some places to start!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your in the first stage of becoming a vegetarian, the guilt faze!.
Most of the meat eating public are in denial about where their meat comes from!. Once you start to realize that the animals you love have been killed for your eating pleasure, the enjoyment is ruined!. I'd suggest picking up a couple vegetarian cookbooks!. It isn't that hard, we replace meat with things like: beans, peas, nuts, seeds, whole grains, eggs and dairy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think this needs to be a big issue, if you decide you don't like a fruit do you spend a lot of time wondering about the reason why!? Just eat what you want!. I do not call myself a vegetarian even though I don't eat meat, I just don't like it!. I eat a lot of beans, rice, vegetables, milk, and cheese!. I even like sauces that that chicken or beef broth, just don't like the meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I became a veg in my early twenties because I didn't like the thought of eating a dead animal!.I thought if someone came over and slaughtered my dog and cooked it up I wouldn't want to eat him!.So why is it different if you don't witness the slaughter!?If your not attached to the animal!?It's still a thinking feeling animal with a personality!.I just think that people who are smart enough to think about it become vegetarians!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey I am vegan and since I became vegetarian I'm not sick of viruses anymore and rarely i have stomach aches! I am since 2007, one Year and 4 months!. It's going pretty well and I recommend it to anyone!. :-)
We eat a variety of foods like vegetables, grains, fruits, pasta, legumes as beans, lentils, tofu!.!.!.etc!. And another soy products as well (i!.e!. vegetarian "meats", soy milk, etc!.) Www@FoodAQ@Com

i decided that i didnt want to eat animals any more, so i became vegetarian!. the only poblem was that my family didnt agree!. they yelled at me, laughed, name called, and tormented me for a long time!. after a few months they realized i was serious and cut back!. they still dont understant, but they are less vocal about it!.
ive been vegetarian for 2 years now!.
good luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Welcome abord!.!.!.!.!.u have just relized the truth and have matured enough about what your eating and where its coming from!. If you look how they inject those animals with steriods and growth harrmons, its horrible(and we ask we're Hu-man) which bacially means someone with rational feelings and understanding of life itself!.

There is nothing wrong with vegetarins(iam "Indian" so you know where i get my reasoning from)!. Alot of ppl in my culture are and like someone said "ITS NOT END OF THE WORLD" AND IF PPL MAKE FUN ABOUT IT(THEY ARE IMMATURE)Www@FoodAQ@Com

food should do you good, not make you sick!.
just eat what you feel you should!.
take a break from meat and eat vegetarian, then think if you really wish to go back to eating meat!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

While lisa2006 might not think it's a big deal, I think it is a huge deal!. I understand where you're coming from!. You've turned a mental (and psychological) corner!. Everything you were reared to think is right and normal no longer seems to be that way!. It's hard to wrap your mind around that!. It takes time!.

(may I ask if there was something that triggered you to not want to eat meat anymore!?)

I think all meat-eaters-turned-vegetarians struggle with the "what now!?" question!. It seems like second nature once we can look at meat and find it repulsive and we wonder where that instinct was years and years ago!.
The best thing you can do is not beat yourself up about it!. You can't worry about all the meat you ate in the past and why you never found it impossible to eat before!. You just have to concentrate on the future as you embark on a journey towards a cruelty-free life!.
At any rate, check out some vegetarian cookbooks from your local library!. They will give you a wealth of knowledge as far as what types of dishes you can prepare!. They also (usually) have a vegetarian food guide - how to stock your pantry, a vegetarian food pyramid, baking substitutions, etc!. I think those might be helpful!.
Welcome to the wonderful word of veggies!
:-)
