Congratulations on planning to go vegan! Any reasonably healthy vegan diet containing primarily unprocessed foods such as vegetables, whole grains, beans and nuts has plenty of protein!. I highly recommend you read the book "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman, MD, which gives the nutritional information as to why!. He also explains why vegans don't have to combine proteins to get enough!. That's a myth based on old faulty science!. It is excess protein that's the problem for most Americans!.

Be sure to supplement with vitamin B12 however, if you go vegan!.

Vegetarians often fill up on too much cheese!. also, vegetarian diets still contribute to animal cruelty!. To make milk marketable, the dairy industry has to get rid of most of the calves, except some for the next generation!. The male calves become veal cows!. Plenty of cruelty in the egg industry too!.

One can have a healthy diet as a vegan, vegetarian, or even meat eater, but in all cases, the diet needs to be primarily plant foods!. But the vegan diet is definitely the most cruelty-free!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a vegetarian, I cannot imagine going vegan, it's a lot more than just what you eat once you're vegan!. You also cannot have any dairy, eggs, or even honey, anything that came from an animal is off limits!. Try some of the soy meats they have by morningstar and boca to transition off the regular meats, cooking without meat I actually find to be easier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well vegan is better for the animals!.
im a vegetarian though!. darn!.

anyways!.!. eat lots of veggies, nuts, tofu!.
also protein bars and shakes are greatWww@FoodAQ@Com

I went veg in January 2002, but when I found out about the dairy-veal connection, I went vegan within a matter of months!.

Have you ever heard of kwashiorkor!? That's a disease of protein deficiency!. And it's incredibly rare in industrialized nations because it is almost impossible to lack protein if you eat a balanced diet!. So eat enough calories, don't eat mostly junk food, and you'll be fine!.

For recipes, check out www!.vegweb!.com!. For tips on tofu, check my profile!. There's also tempeh, an Indonesian food made of fermented soy!. Seitan, a!.k!.a!., wheat meat, is a great meat substitute and really easy to make!. You need Arrowhead Mills Vital Wheat Gluten to make it!.

There are also tons of analogues out there, which will likely be available at your local Whole Foods or natural foods store!. To find vegetarian and veg-friendly restaurants and natural foods stores in your area, go to www!.happycow!.net!.

I think vegetarian is the way to go!. The way I see it, if it hurts the animal not to take its "product" (like milk or eggs) then it's just as bad as killing it for its meat!. Doing that would make you a lacto-ovo vegetarian!. Vegan means you don't consume or use ANY animal products, including milk, eggs, leather products like shoes and purses, gummy bears (they have lactic acid), gelatin/jello products (gelatin comes from horses' hooves), etc!. Being vegan is a lot of work, but worth it if you really care about animals!. Remember, this is a lifestyle change, not just a dietary change!
If you still need protein, and you do for vital body functions and health, most people consume beans and legumes regularly and nut butters, peanut butter always being a favorite, but try almond and cashew butters, both are great! And don't forget soy products like tofu (which takes on the flavors of whatever it's cooked with) and soybeans (fresh, dry, doesn't matter, both are yummy, the fresh ones are called edamame beans, which you can find fresh or frozen, and don't eat the pod they come in, it's not easily digested!)!. If you choose the lacto-ovo vegetarian option, remember, you can do tons with eggs and they have tons of vitamins and minerals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its not hard really, I had the same problem when I switched to a vegetarian diet 13 years ago!. The biggest hurdle is eating balanced meals!. Tofu, Morning star Veggie burgers(which contain egg whites but is my personal favorite)Boca burgers are all excellent meatfree options & good sources of protein!. 10 years ago these were all the options You & I had, but now Kroger has a wide variety of meatless products in their organic section & morning star Farms & Boca has several tasty options in the frozen foods section!. Everything from veggie bacon & sausage to corndogs, snack foods, soy cheese, milk, & ice cream!. It truly is a new day for vegetarians! also check online, if you have an organic grocery like "trader Joes" close by in FL!. check it out, they also have a variety of meat free products!. email for tofu recipes

VEGAN-Veganism is a diet and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose!.[1][2] Vegans endeavor not to use or consume animal products of any kind!.[3]

Vegetarian- Vegetarianism is the practice of a diet that excludes meat (including game and slaughter by-products), fish (including shellfish and other sea animals) and poultry!.[1][2] There are several variants of the diet, some of which also exclude eggs and/or some products produced from animal labour such as dairy products and honey!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
