Who here used to be a vegetarian but went back to eating meat?!
Why did you go back to eating meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Yes!.!. I did!.
The choice was completely personal (and of course I will probably get thumbs down from meat eater haters, but it's whatever)!. I had became a vegetarian because I love animals very much!. After volunteering on a farm for 3 years I changed my mind!. I still love animals but I changed my mind because!.!.!.!.
The farm that I worked on killed their own animals in order to produce meat and sell it!. The way that they put these animals down was much better than just slaughtering them!. After working there I realized that it's just a way of life, the circle of life!. No one lives forever!.!.!.including animals!. PETA and other people will say that meat-eaters are selfish but we do what we're accustomed to do!. Our ancestors found this technique of using meat for survival when there wasn't much to eat thousands and thousands of years ago!. I still love animals, that won't change!.!.!. But I can't say that my favorite meal isn't a nice well-done steak, because it is!. Meat is a good source of protein and vitamins!. Anyway, that's my choice!. I applaud people that can continue being vegetarian!.!.!. although I do think Vegan is a bit extreme (I mean, milk is needed for strong bones!.!.) who am I to judge!? You know!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I never went back to eating meat!. But I have an ex-boyfriend who was vegetarian when I dated him!. Several years later, I bumped into him at a wedding and was shocked to see him eating every type of meat on the deli table! I asked him why he went back to meat, and he said he went to the doctor who found he wasn't healthy, and told him he needed to back to eating eat!.
Well P!.S!. This guy's diet consisted largely of chocolate donuts! No wonder he was unhealthy! Any vegetarian with that diet would be unhealthy!. The solution was not for him to add meat to his diet, but to subtract the chocolate donuts and add fruits, vegetables and whole grains!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've stuck to my beliefs for two years and I don't intend to change that, but I have a friend who went back to eating meat and I think she did it because she became one for the wrong reasons (just to be different, it sounded cool, thought it'd be so easy!.!.!.) and not for the right ones (health, ethics, religion, etc)!.
When you don't have the right motivations behind your actions you can start out so strong but eventually fail because you made a good decision for bad reasons!. It's like building a mansion on a foundation made of Jell-O!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I was a teenager I was vegetarian for three years because of a new-found spirituality that I had!. However when I lost that spirituality I also started to eat meat again!.
Then I was a meat eater for about 6 years and then went vegan after finding out how animals are raised for food and fashion!. Now I'm vegan for life!. I will never go back because I don't see animal products as something edible!. It's rotting flesh and body fluids!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was on again off again vegetarian, but after reading the book below I'm intending to be vegan for life, for the following reasons:
cruelty to animals, chemicals in foods, and spiritual reasons - thou shall not kill, also for health and weight loss!. My feet were swollen up, I felt bad, couldn't walk so easy, and after being a vegan again for 2 days my feet weren't swollen anymore and I could tighten my sandals!.
I don't have to pee out so much toxic urine either in the middle of the night!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i was a vegetarian but have eaten a little meat since becoming pregnant!. i wasnt getting enough protein and was really light headed and my dr tested me and told me it was from lack of protein!. now, i know you can get protein from other sources, but working full time and being pregnant i gave in and just started making sandwiches and eating meat!. i still have a hard time eating it though!. but ever since i started eating it again i have felt tons better!. i plan on going back to being a vegetarian when i have this baby Www@FoodAQ@Com
In my late teenage years/twenties I was vegetarian, then vegan for seven years!. However, I bowed to pressure/'expertise' when I wanted to try for children and returned to eating meat and diary!. My family had butcher's businesses and being vegetarian, particularly vegan was a massive issue and caused significant arguments within the family and with my husband and it was a constant battle!. When I ate meat and dairy again, it always felt wrong!. But I did miss meat that first time!. I missed the traditions too, being included in the extended family
I was re-awakened, that sounds crazy, but it really felt like that, when I returned to being Vegan!. This time, being much older and having information (and vegan produce) more readily available, I was better able to fight my corner!. My family, all totally accept and understand my decisions!. My children, who still eat meat and dairy will happily eat vegetarian, and do many times a week!. This time, I do not crave meat or dairy, it repulses me, although I can and do still cook it for my family!.
Food has a lot to do with tradition, family tradition, showing care and acceptance as well as the other issues!. Now at extended family meals/functions vegetarian and vegan options are just included, accepted as being normal and the meat eaters will eat a slice of Vegan roast pepper and sun dried tomato flan along with their roast beef!.
Memories of childhood never change though, as the autumn days shorten, I feel the urge to cook massive casseroles, mashed potatoes and dumplings to be ready for my children on their return home for school, like I had as a child!. However, whilst I sometimes make them with meat because the children enjoy it too, they are much more likely to be Vegan versions!.
I wished I had been certain in my own beliefs when I was young and brought my children up to be Vegan!. I strongly advise Vegan/Vegetarian parents-to-be to visit a dietitian prior to getting pregnant so they can arm themselves with the real facts about Vegan/Vegetarian diets during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for babies and children!. Do it before the doctor, the health visitor and other 'well meaning' but uninformed professionals send you on a guilt trip!.
Would I go back to eating meat now!?
Never, I have no desire whatsoever and happily my family have no desire to try to convert me any more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had dinner tonight with two friends who were vegans but went back to eating meat!. They were both at a party and after a few drinks they had some pork pie!. I guess the alcohol was responsible, but after that they just reverted back!. Perhaps it's like an alcoholic, once he takes a drink he has to have more!.

I'm a vegetarian, but i must admit, i feel uncomfortable being 'picky' about what i eat when there's so many people starving in the world, who'd be glad of anything to eat!.!. (it seems obscene to say "i am a vegetarian", "is it made with gelatine!?" "does it have meat stock in it!?" ) to people who don't have the luxury of the choices i do!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Ah a loaded question!.
Former born again vegetarian here!. One day I woke up and realized what a jerk I was!.
I hated when people pushed their views on me (think religious) and yet I was doing the same touting 'healthy eating' and 'animal cruelty!.' I realized it was nonsense, a religion w/o god and I was hungry!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
