Taking veganism and fruitism to the test?!

Question: Taking veganism and fruitism to the test!?
i had this vegan friend, really pushy and annoying to the core!.
no fun at all being around her, she would judge us for everything, the chocolate we would eat, the milk in the coffee, our sunday meals, until one day i got fed up with her when she announced she's going to be a fruitist or whatever that is called and how sorry she feels for the rest of us for not!.

I challenged her to jog till one of us quits!.

Me : i eat a variaty of fruits, veggies, beans, mushrooms, dairy, 6 days a week, and every sunday meat (usually beef, sunday is the -going out to eat- day) i refuse to take medication unless i'm dying, i treat headaches, stomach aches with remedies of my grandma, never been hospitalized, besides apendix removal!. and i work out twice a week for 2 hours!.

She : veggies, fruits, beans, grains!. (i dunno her medical history, nor am i sure if she's on nutrition pills)

the result was that i won!. She lost her breath after some while!.

How do you explain that!?

my own explanation is that a balanced diet WITH working out and no abuse of medication is the key to health!.

also it's really important what you're eating is clean!. either that is a cow or it be an apple!. I'm a big fan of biological/organic stuff!.

what is your opinion!? (please no hate speech, please show maturity and keep the answer on topic, )Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds like you eat pretty healthily and don't eat much meat yourself!. Sounds like she may not be getting enough essential fats if she's not eating vegetable oil, nuts, etc!.

But as to your question, I don't think someone's health or stamina is dependent on their diet!. First of all, a vegetarian or vegan diet is not necessarily healthier than any other diet!. It depends on the specific foods you eat, portion size, variation in the diet, etc!. You can eat processed crap on a vegan diet just as you can on a typical American diet!.

Secondly, how much exercise you get will have more to do with how much stamina you have, hence who will be able to jog longer!. Overall physical health is not just your diet, it's also how much exercise you get, how active your lifestyle is, your hygiene, your genes, and many combined factors!.

As for her being pushy, that's a whole other thing!. Doesn't sound like she is going to convert any of her "friends" anytime soon if she continues to be judgmental and make you feel bad about your eating choices!. But it is possible that her point is that she can't see how you eat dairy/meat for ethical reasons, as opposed to being concerned with every bite you take that you're clogging arteries!. Either way, have a talk with her about how her behavior is alienating and gives vegans a bad name!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

physical resistance is an individual aspect, it doesn't say anything about your diet being better than her's or anything!. that is not a definite proof!.
you can be on any kind of diet, if you eat healthy and balanced then you are ok!.
people should also be able to make their own choice about what type of diet they want to follow and others to respect it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, you're a much healthier eater than her!

Since she doesn't eat a wide variety at all, she lost her breath quicker, simply because her body lacks a lot of the ESSENTIAL nutrition it needs!.

Some other explanations could be that she's slightly asthmatic or just doesn't exercise regular & her body isn't used to such physical activity!

Hope it helps,

Eating healthy is important, but I'd say that your wining the race probably has more to do with your frequent exercises rather than your eating habits!.

Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should compare an apple to an orange!. If you compare an horse, you will lose in race!. I give you a classic example which happened to me 10 years ago!. When i was a meater, I clocked 9:35 min in 2!.4km run for qualify IPPT!. After a year became a vegan, i clocked 8:30 min in 2!.4km run!. Everyone in my organization surprised because it was the best time ever, obviously a vegan at 30 yrs old could break such record!.

Conclusion : Try a healthy/balanced vegan diet for a year and test your own self, NOT OTHERS!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i don't think that veggies, fruits, beans and grains provide the proper nutrition for anybody, but if you're taking vitamins and supplements then i'm sure your body could get used to it!? she can eat whatever she wants, but she shouldn't be judging you for eating what you want, because you can eat whatever you want also!. she sounds annoying!. don't eat with her anymore!.

oh, and also, you'd beat me at jogging too because i am not fit at all, and i eat a balanced diet too!. (:Www@FoodAQ@Com

You haven't put veganism to the test, you've put one person, who's a vegan, to one particular test!.

That being the case, I'm not sure what the point of your question is!.

How do I explain it!? You're fitter than she is!. What other explanation is possible!? You work out; perhaps she doesn't!. None of this has anything to do with one of you being a vegan and the other not!. You know not all meat-eaters are as fit as you are, and that some are fitter!. In the same way, not all vegans are as unfit as your friend, some are less fit , some a great deal fitter!.

I'm at a loss to see what you think you've proved here, other than your cardio-vascular superiority over a single other human being!.

True, she sound like a pain (and I notice you refer to your friendship in the past tense)!. And it sounds as if you have a pretty healthy diet!.

But as an experiment this proves nothing about veganism, or indeed fruitarianism (I think that's the word)!.

Hope I've kept on topic, but to be honest I wasn't sure what the topic was!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is the possibility that you work out more than she does therefore your cardio vascular system is more developed that hers!.
Just tell her that you find it annoying that she continally goes on and on about being a vegetarian!. Can she change the topic please!?
She must care about you a lot anyway!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
