I've been thinking of giving up red meat...?!

Question: I've been thinking of giving up red meat!.!.!.!?
Okay, here's how it goes!.
I have decided to make a serious decision about my eating habits!. Now, i don't want to become a complete vegan or anything but I want to cut out eating red meat!. I want to keep it as chicken/turkey and fish (and vegetables/fruit, of course)!.
So, I am curious to know of any foods (or vitamins!?) i specifically need to consume so I can get enough iron in my body that a person who eats red meat usually gets because i hear you can get very sick without specific vitamins and chemicals in your body!.
Yeah so if you have any information on what i specifically need to eat while on this 'diet', i would love to know because i am following this through and have made my decision!.
Thank you!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't believe the hype!. The meat industry just wants you to believe that red meat is full of vitamins and minerals and is "essential" to the human diet, but it is not!.

It is *not* necessary to take a supplement if you give up red meat!. Granted, it is a source of iron, but the truth is that there are plenty of meatless sources for iron!.
Any dark leafy green (such as collard greens, spinach and kale to name a few) has a good amount of iron!. Raisins, healthy cereals and certain nuts (almonds, cashews) all have iron too!.
Since you are still going to eat turkey, the dark meat is packed with iron!. Certain cold water fish have a good amount of iron as well!.
I assure you - you will be just fine!.
Eliminating red meat from your diet is not the end of the world as far as your vitamins and minerals are concerned!. Red meat is not a super food on any level and you will be just fine without it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Iron in particular comes from red meat!. Without it you can feel real lethargic or moody, but it can be taken as a supplement!. Too little and you will become Anemic!. Meat is a part of the human diet, if you are going to remove it, in fraction or in whole you should supplement it with something else!. A good multivitamin would help and then of course, Iron supplements if necessary!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only mineral you might be getting less of is iron, and that is quite easy to get from other foods!. High-iron foods that are not from red meat include:
Lentils, split peas, beans, soybeans, chickpeas, dried apricots, dried peaches, dates, prunes, prune juice, cold breakfast cereals, chicken, turkey, tuna, scallops, clams, tofu, swiss chard, baked potato, eggs, enriched pasta, molasses, whole wheat bread, brown sugar, sunflower seed, and pumpkin seeds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you'll still be eating fish and fowl, you'll have no problems at all!.

My advice to you isn't about what you should add to your diet, but what you should take away!.

Be sure that you're not replacing red meat with lots of eggs, dairy, and other high-fat animal-based foods!. That could un-do any benefit you get (health, mental, spiritual, etc) from cutting out the red meat!.

You'll be fine!. Basically, eat exactly what you eat now without the pork, beef, lamb, etc!. Stick to grilled and roasted (not breaded and fried) and you can't go too far wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
