You're just going to have to read a lot of labels!. NOT all bread has milk in it!. French and Italian style white breads are almost always vegan, but not a source of whole grains, of course!. Other non-vegan culprits in bread are honey, whey and animal-derived dough conditioners like mono- and diglycerides (which can also come from plant sources!.) But if you play the numbers game and read as many labels as possible, you will undoubtedly find a vegan loaf!. See if your market has Ezekiel breads and also check for less commercial local brands (I find that a lot of small local bakeries in my area are a good bet!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I've spent a month in canada now, and still haven't found a good bread!. I've read the labels of EVERY single bread sort in my local supermarkets, and everything is either made with milk, eggs, or whey, or is laced with "enzymes" and other chemicals from undisclosed sources, *especially* the white breads such as tortillas and french bread!.!.!. kind of disappointing!. In Sweden I usually call up the manufacturers and ask about it but I haven't gotten around to that here yet, but that is my best suggestion!. Other than that your best shot is to visit your local bakery - since they don't make as big quantities they usually don't need that any additives to preserve quality as they do in the factories!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
your best bet, is to try a supermarket like "whole foods", where are you from!? I know of two in Ontario, Tornoto and Oakville!. The sell very allergy/diet friendly foods!. A lot of vegan breads are easily made and for most recipes that call for a dairy product you can sub soy milk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Vegan bread is easy to find, and almost every grocery store has it!. Go to the bakery and get a baguette or a loaf of fresh French bread!. The ingredients are just flour, yeast, water and salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There are some brands of bread that are vegan - you just have to look at the ingredients of them all and there should be some!
