As others have said, nuts are a great way of getting healthy calories!. I love a mix of nuts, seeds, and dried fruit as a snack - great for energy, tasty, and very healthy (lots of vitamins, minerals and healthy oils)!.
Another good higher-calorie food is hummous - it's high in protein, but because it's made with olive oil it's also fairly high in calories (olive oil is very good for you)!. I eat it with carrot sticks, or sometimes on corn crackers!.
For breakfast I normally eat steel-cut oats and low-fat (not fat-free, that stuff has gelatine in it so it's not vegetarian) yoghurt!. For morning and afternoon snacks I eat fruit or a handful of the dried fruit and nut mix, or sometimes a piece of wholemeal toast with peanut butter!. For each lunch and dinner I make sure I have a protein, a wholegrain carb, and lots of veggies!. All of that, with a couple of coffees and maybe a glass of soy milk, normally gets me to around 1700 cals!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

rice and beans is one of my favorite meals it is protein rich and satisfying!.
for snacks i have cut up fruit or vegetables!.
i do have a glass of soy milk about once a day!.
i just basically eat whatever i feel like eating through out the day, whenever i feel hungry!. i do not have a plan to meet a calorie requirement or minimum!.
since you are still growing you should make sure you satisfy your body's need for protein though!. you can find protein in beans, nuts, grains and vegetables though!. soybeans are the best "protein complete" vegetarian food!.
as long as you're not HUNGRY then you should be eating enough!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
