Answers:
Being vegan or vegetarian is always a healthy choice!
And the problem isn't lack of protein in the diet!. That's a common misconception!. We, as a country, consume too much protein!. Find the exact amount that you need and then write down all the protein you eat for three days!.
The only way that this could be an unhealthy lifestyle is if all you eat is junkfood!. Eat a variety of fruits and veggies, and whole grains and you will feel better!
It doesn't matter whether or not you're a child, a teen, an adult, or a senior, there's nothing wrong with removing meat from your diet!. The vitamins found in meat can easily be found in all of the foods we SHOULD be eating (fruits and veggies and whole grains)!. And with all the antibiotics and hormones meat has in it, it's much safer to eat a healthy, vegetarian diet!.
And there is quite a difference between vegans and vegetarians!.
Vegetarians don't eat meat, but still eat dairy and eggs!.
Vegans consume no animal products, including leather!.
Do some research online and you'll see that it takes some thought to plan your meals (which is good considering that most people in this country couldn't care less about what they eat), but if you do it right, it's more than worth it!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey Brit!.!.!.I'm not sure what Me Mosa is talking about!. I think it's totally wise that you are checking this out for yourself!. Yes, I would run your ideas by your parents and even include them in on your findings, but it is never wrong to seek advice elsewhere also (as long as you are not being secretive about it)!. As a vegetarian, you will naturally be consuming more vegetables and fruits than a non-vegetarian!. Veg!. and fruit consumption is NEVER a problem, especially if you can counter-act the natural sugars with some natural sodium (such as that found in beans and nuts)!. It is true that most Americans are not healthy!. And it is true that most Americans that are against being vegetarian probably don't understand the motives and ideas behind being such!. It is my OPINION (not fact), that most people who frequent places like McDonald's and the like, really have no right to be giving their opinion on here!. It is probably ten times more toxic to eat at fast-food joints on a regular basis than it is to be a vegetarian!. However, like I said, I don't know your medical history so you do need to talk to your parents and your doctor if your parents aren't sure!. Congratulations on trying to be healthy!. Keep the journey going!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You do not have to be vegetarian to be healthy but if its something you want to pursue then I advise you speak with your parents and a family doctor!. An easy way to eat more healthful would be to follow the food pyramid!. Has everyone forgotten the food pyramid!? :)

Edit: This bothers me!. We have a 13 year old!.!.!.yes!.!.!.13 year old asking about dietary advice!. No one ever tells these children that they should be speaking to their family and doctor about this!. They get told "yes, being a vegetarian will make you feel better!.!.!.eating meat is bad!." And thats it! That is terrible advice!.

Edit: Brittany!.!.!.if everyone goes vegie today!.!.!.what do we do with all of the livestock!? Lets be sensible!. Atleast try to see both sides!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ok depriving your self of meat is just plain stupid!. Meat lover fo life baby yea!. Slaughter the cow!. Slaughter the pig!. I don't have a problem with eating meat if we don't eat them they would overpopulate us!. then there would be no room for us! please eat meat Plus+ it tastes really gooD!Www@FoodAQ@Com

you need to make sure you have enough protein and vitamins in your diet!. You may need to take a multi-v that includes vitamin B, Calcium, and Iron to make sure you have enough of it in your system!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as you get enough protein and fat in your diet you'll be fine!. Oh and make sure you eat an egg or some dairy once in a while to prevent B12 deficiency!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No especially since your a growing female, you require many things hard to find in fruits and veggies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
