“During my vegetarian days, I occasionally considered eliminating all animal products and going 100% vegan!. From what I’d read up to that point, I was convinced that the vegan diet would be healthier for me than a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet!. I also went to Tony Robbins’ firewalk seminar in 1996 and learned about the Fit for Life diet, a book I later read!. Tony is the most energetic person I’ve ever seen, and he was pitching a mostly vegan diet!. I became curious about how a vegan diet would affect my energy level”!.
Being a vegan has many benefits, but first, what exactly does being vegan mean!? I often find not many are sure exactly what this term defines!. A vegan is a person who only consumes plant products!. The notion of being vegan is to not support any product or food derived from the pain and suffering of any animal!. Vegans do not eat meat of any kind, nor do they consume dairy or cheese products, or wear any clothing piece derived from a byproduct of an animal such as leather!. Some folks hear of this lifestyle and immediately think the world would stop turning, "what would I do without my meat and dairy!?" The fact of the matter is you would probably be living a lot better than you have been!.
Let's first look at the eating habits of a vegan!. A vegan diet consists only of plant products!. That means no beef, pork, poultry, fish, or any kind of meat whatsoever!. It also means no dairy products of any kind, such as cheese, milk, or anything derived from an animal!. A vegan is different from a vegetarian from this concept of refusing dairy products and their more 'hardcore' view on animal rights!. Most vegetarians still consume milk, butter, and the like!. Vegans do not!. Most people think this is an unhealthy lifestyle, but in actuality it is extremely healthy!. The diet of a vegan consists of fresh vegetables and fruit, and consuming soy supplements to meat so that they still get the right amount of protein and other nutrients commonly found in the flesh of animals!. Soy is a product from the soy bean, and you can get it in a variety of different forms!. Soy milk, soy beans (obviously), tofu is made from soy, and there are a variety of other new up and coming brands of meat substitutes derived from soy for vegans and vegetarians!. Soy has all the protein of meat, but none of the artery clogging fats and ridiculous amount of cholesterol!. Being a vegan will completely rid your life of virtually all processed foods, and all the poisons found in fast-food and other things that your body just wasn't meant to intake!. Eating in this manner will give you an incredibly healthier lifestyle!.

I have no firsthand experience here (since I'm not vegan myself) but I do happen to be very knowledgeable about the subject and I have some vegan friends!. Here's some tips to help you out:
1!. Make sure you get lots of protein and other nutrients to avoid health complications (seeds, legumes, beans, nuts, shakes, mock meats, etc!.) (see food pyramid below)!.
2!. Label-reading!. Ah!. Inevitable part of veganism!. From what I've heard, at first checking ingredients can be overwhelming, but it gets much easier as you get more experience with it!. After some time you'll be able to just glance over the ingredient label and know in no time if it's vegan or not!. Look for: milk, butter, whey, gelatin, eggs, and honey are the main ones!. (usually listed in health food in bold print)!.
3!. A couple of brands of bread are not vegan but a lot are!. Just make sure it doesn't have milk byproducts, honey, or eggs!. Bagels and 100% wheat bread are generally vegan, as are many rolls!. also vegan: a lot of biscuits!. But not all are vegan!. Remember to always check the ingredients and you'll be fine!. When in doubt, don't put it in your mouth!.
4!.For on-the-go snacks, here are great sites with some really easy, really fast recipes:

It took me about a month to turn completely vegan (I'm 15 too)!. Most people I've talked to like going slowly, so here's what I suggest you do!.
Firstly, buy some soy or rice milk or other non-dairy milk (whatever you like) and use that instead of cows milk!.
Secondly try cutting back on your consumption of animal products!. You can still have them occasionally at this point!.
Thirdly, find some good recipes!. I like www!.vegcooking!.com and www!.fatfreevegan!.com and www!.theppk!.com !. Try making vegan versions of your favourite foods that contain animal products
Fourthly, look at your local supermarket for vegan friendly products, such as vegan ice cream!. Last month I managed to find apple and berry pie that was vegan!.
And finally try and find some vegan options at restaurants, or convince some friends/family to go to a vegan restaurant!.
You can download a vegetarian started kit from www!.goveg!.com

Well, perhaps you should try eating some legumes, and I agree with the person above me, take it slow!. Reasons, well there are countless reasons- health, animals, and the list goes on and on!. I would check into using some non-animal tested products like oh lets see, Kiss my face, oh gosh what else do I use!? Seventh generation!. I would look into soy products!. Like silk- soy milk!. Make sure you're doing this because YOU want to! Good luck! Www@FoodAQ@Com
