Answers:
Yes you can eat it raw - it is nice grated into salads

I like to peel it, cut into thick slices (this increases the surface area making it cook quicker) boil it for around 20 minutes or until soft, and mash with a little butter and loads of black pepper!.

It also makes a great topping for shepherds pie if you mash it with carrot!.

Sweet potato and swede (or turnip as we call it in newcastle) mash is also delicious!.

you can also roast it in the ovenWww@FoodAQ@Com

When I was a young boy I used to go trainspotting with my pals all day!. We used to go into the farmers field and eat raw swede everyday!. We used to dig them up, scrape the soil off, then peel them with our teeth!. The raw swede is delicious!.
It's probably better to cook it!. Most people boil it, but it can be cut into chips & roasted in the oven which is the way I prefer!. Swede can take a while to boil, some swedes can be woody, but I just love swede!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Boil it and you can mash it like potatoes or roast it or eat it raw in salads!. Cook it the same as potatoes or may be a little longer it taste great with sweet corn!. But never put it in with potatoes to cook it they cook at different times but mash it with potato and it is great!. I think that I will get some!. Butter or soar cream is good or plain yogurt or even cream with it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Shave his beard off and turn up the Sauna :-)

Oops I completely misread the question !! But anyway seeing as I've written it all out

Seriously Swede can be cooked many ways, it's quite a vesatile little brute!.

Always peel it before doing any of the following !!

Boil - Just cut into cubes and boil until tender

Raw - Cut in very small sticks (julienne) and add to a salad for a bit of crunchy

Mash - Boil as above then mash it up with some Butter & Cream - lots of Black Pepper too - yummy

Crisp/Chips - slice very thinly and fry in hot oil to make an alternative to Potato Crisps/Chips - flavour however you like!.

Chips/Fries - Again cut into batons to your desired thickness and fry as an alternative to Potato Chips/Fries!.

I cook it with carrot then mash it up with black pepper!.

And sometimes I cut it into chunks and have it raw in my lunch box!.

Or I grate it raw with other root vegetables and mix with a little bit of yoghurt or mayonnaise to make cole slaw!.

Either way it is delicious!.
