Is it wrong to ask if a facial cleanser is Vegan or not?!
Yesterday at WF the guy looked at me like I was a nut when I asked which brands were Vegan!.
When I rephrased it to animal friendly he immediately told me "of course, all of our facial care products are animal friendly"!.
I am very nervous in public, and can't always concentrate on what Im reading in a long list of ingredients!.
I want to be crystal clear in making my point to the sales person!.
Thanks

Sorry that you're nervous in public!. Do you have social anxiety!?
Well, I would research the brand and products before you buy them!. That way you know for sure!. You could always try ordering online too if thats an option for you!. Try veganessentials!.com they sell all vegan products, so you can look at what they sell and try to find it in a store, if you don't want to order online!. Some companies actually use the vegan flower logo on their products, so you know those products are good!. Alba botanica is vegan except for their lipbalm, which has beeswax!. They make some good skincare products!. Or you could try etsy!.com if you don't mind handmade stuff!. Just search "vegan skincare"!. A company called "Lush" also makes good skincare products, but they usually only have stores in big cities!. They mark which of their products are vegan & it's listed on their website!. If worse comes to worse, you could always check the return policy & return it if you buy something non-vegan, just double check the label at home!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When you said "vegan," my guess is that he thought you wanted to eat the product or something!. Vegan is a term most commonly applied to dietary preferances, so he may not have understood what you meant!. Animal friendly is also pretty ambiguous - if someone said animal friendly I would assume they meant a product that wasn't tested on animals!. Something might not be tested on animals but still contain beeswax or lanolin, which are common ingredients in natural products!. I also wouldn't necessarily trust the salesperson to know for sure - it's not like they memorize the ingredient list and its possible they aren't aware of something being from an animal!. I think your best bet would be to read through the ingredients yourself OR to buy only brands that advertise as being vegan!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
That is absolutely NOT wrong, and I find it totally bizarre that the WF guy would treat you like that!. IME, they're normally much more hip to such things and they ought to know what vegan means!. It is obviously not true that "all" of their personal care products are vegan, because they sell Burt's Bees!. That guy is a moron!.
Just work on developing some more confidence, and take all the time you need to read the labels!. Some good brands that do not have any animal products or by-products and dont' test on animals are J/A/S/O/N and Earth Science, and their own 365 brand claims to be free of animal ingredients and testing as well!.
PS: Shaif is a troll, but he's right about one thing!. You can't rely on other people to tell you the truth about products!. There are too many morons and outright liars out there!. There's no substitute for reading labels carefully yourself and doing research if necessary to find out what you're really buying!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If something is going on your face, wouldn't you want to know what it is and what is in it!?
I don't care if you have to ask a thousand times as to what is in their products - that information is free of charge (hehe)
Everyone should be crystal clear towards a salesperson, afterall YOU ARE the one who has the final say in the transaction!.
Don't be nervous nor ashamed: "if you're afraid to ask you're ashamed to learn"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No its not wrong, i would feel weird too!. Take notice of the brands they have and research them on your own!.
vegan and animal friendly don't always go hand in hand!.
Most people view 'animal friendly' as not tested on animals!. Most don't know that cleansers, lotions, deodorants, or anything like that actually contain animal products!.
So he may have meant they are cruelty free w/o animal testing but could still contain animal productsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Of course it's not wrong!. And trust me, employees at Whole Foods hear it all the time!. I'm sure you just misinterpreted his look, because you were nervous!.
Whole Foods says they do not carry products that were tested on animals, but of course, that doesn't make them vegan!.
Good brands to look for include J/A/S/O/N, Alba, Nature's Gate, Gabriel and Zia!.

No, it's not wrong, it is what you believe in!. I think he just did not understand what you meant by vegan and it sounded weird to him!. I think he understood when you said animal friendly, because that is the way most people put it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You're not alone!. People like to demean other people, it's a type of bullying!. Just stay strong!. Life is short, let's live it the way we want, and not let anyone or any animal suffer for us being here!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
One reason why I usually buy "certified vegan" products!.
I hate asking!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
I hate asking!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
No but you were using terms or phrases which are not readily understood!. "Vegan" is not that familiar a term for everyone!. If you look at posts here, even vegans ask a lot of questions so it would be too much to ask for someone who may have not even heard of the word to know what it would mean!. The same goes for "animal friendly" which could mean "it can be used on animals" not animal cruelty free!.
Try rephrasing like: Does it contain animal products!?" or " Is is tested on animals!?" something like that!.
Or before you buy or go to the store/mall, do your own research through the net!. You already asked about Tom's of Maine!. You could ask the same questions about other products and people here can answer you more knowledgeably than most store clerks!. That way, you can ask for a specific brand out right instead of asking many questions to a confused sales person!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
