Does one slip up cancel out efforts?!
So about three weeks ago, I thought I would check out the PETA website because I'm going through an Ellen Degeneres phase and I know she's involved with PETA!. Then I saw the videos about the cruelty at food farms and I knew I just couldn't eat meat anymore!. It made me sick to see animals treated like that!.
And I've been good for the past three weeks!.
But tonight I slipped up!. I work at Taco Bell and we're allowed to bring food home, so I brought a cheese quesadilla for myself, and a side of steak for my kitty as a treat!. (She probably won't be becoming a vegetarian anytime soon!.!.!.lol)!. And it sat there in the bowl, looking so delicious after three weeks of missing meat and I ate some!. I gave most of it to my kitty as intended but I still ate some!.
Does that make me a bad vegetarian!? I mean I know vegetarians don't eat meat!.!.!.I just wondered how bad of a sin it was!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Relax and don't worry about it!. I have been a happy vegetarian for nearly 10 years!. In the first two weeks that I started, I got home drunk from a party and was so hungry that I ate some pork balls that were in the fridge!.
I felt terrible the next day because I thought that I had cheated, but I realized that to be a vegetarian takes a big life adjustment and this may take a few weeks - especially if you really liked meat before you gave it up!
I have so many friends that only stayed veggie for a few weeks as they weren't prepared to commit!. You sound like you are!.
Stick with it, you are doing a great thing for the environment, for animals and ultimately for your own health!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You really are doing a great job if you went 3 weeks cold turkey!.!. No, you are not a bad vegetarian, alot of "vegetarians" slip up at some point or another!.!. You should ease into it, maybe give yourself a break here and there with a slice of turkey or something light, but slowly make the portions smaller and smaller until you don't feel the need to eat meat anymore!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not to give yourself permission to make such slips a routine is one thing but let's understand the word 'sin'!. It comes from the French and it is an archery term that means "miss" as in miss the mark!. So yeah, to eat meat as a vegetarian is to definitely miss the mark but don't beat yourself up over it!. And don't give up on being vegetarian either!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
no, youre not a bad vegetarian and i can almost promise you youre not the first to have a slip up!. its not a night and day change for most people and its a big lifestyle change that will probably just take you some time to ease into!. take comfort in knowing that youre on your way to your goal and trying to make things better!. good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
As with any other type of major lifestyle change, put it behind you, don't beat yourself up and resolve to do better in the future!.
And you're right, It's not a good idea to make kitty a vegetarian, cats are obligate meat eaters-but you might want to get her treats that are not tempting to you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't worry about it! You can only set reasonable expectations for yourself, and that goes not only for this but any diet and pretty much life in general!. Nobody can be perfect all the time!. If you have been veggie for 3 weeks and this is the first meat you ate, I think that's pretty impressive!Www@FoodAQ@Com
You might want to consider why you're veg--I hope it's not just because of Ellen and PETA!.
You make mistakes!. You're human!. But you have to put it behind you and resolve to do better the next time you bring kitty a treat!. Next time, give all of it to kitty first so you won't be as tempted next time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are only human! I am not vegetarian or vegan but the fact applies to everybody!.!. We are not perfect and are allowed to make mistakes!. It does not mean we can't get up, dust ourself off and get back up there and try again! Just get back on track like you would with anything else in your life that means something to you!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When I became vegetarian, I had a couple of slip ups and ate meat!. I felt terrible about it and guilty, but that made me stronger!. Don't give up and go back to meat!. Slipping up one time is better than eating meat your whole life!. You're not a bad person, we all make mistakes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i don't know about it but the temptation(steak) is hard to resist!.no one can blame you really!.just avoid steak next time!.i'm avoiding any fast food restaurant!.i'll not entering and i won't be eating the fries from mcd either!.that's what i'm doing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No, I don't think one slip up cancels everything out!. You're making an effort! Just think of all of the animals that you saved in the three weeks that you didn't eat meat! By the way, I am also a new vegetarian! Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
This is a choice that you have made for yourself!. You aren't "bad" for occasionally slipping up, especially at the start!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
You're just starting and adjusting!. I hope you didn't get bad germs from eating out of the cat's bowl though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
At the very least, you have to go to confession and do penance!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes I feel it does!.!.!.!. Otherwise you could claim you are a vegetarian, but only between meals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hey- its progress, not perfection! Be kind to yourself!Www@FoodAQ@Com
well i have been vegan for 2 years and vegetarian for 15 years, and i never really intentionally eat food that i'm not allowed, so if i ever do have some accidently, its just a mistake, everyone makes mistakes so i guess doesnt cancel out any efforts
but your case if more diffucult because you intentionally ate meat, but given that you've only just started being a vegetarian, i would just say its allowed but if you are finding it hard to give up meat, or are stll having cravings, i would suggest gradually giving up meat not all in one go, or alternatively you can always find meat alternatives in all health shops so it will help you not to crave so much, but i guess the rest is down to youWww@FoodAQ@Com

I really know how you feel, don't worry!. It's really common to crave meat when you first stop eating meat!.
When I first went vegie I started to get really tempted after about a month!. That was three years ago and it gets LOADS easier, trust me!. I was only gonna go vegie for a year, but when the year was up I couldn't imagine eating meat and the thought makes me pretty sick!.
If you don't want to be vegetarian, don't feel pressured into it!.
I don't think one little slip matters, even if it tasted amazing!. Happens to loads of people!. It's the thought that counts, right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not really!. I have been vegetarian for a few years and recently I ate some chicken (though it was picked out of the trash and it was still warm and truthfully I felt really bad about eating though it did taste good) Humans have primal instincts and sometimes those come out, the only sad part is we don't know how to hunt and gather so we take our primal instincts out on commercially available meat!. If you slip up it is not a big deal!. Now as far as PETA goes, they are horribly sexist, occasionally racist though can be a somewhat decent though brief starting point for being veg!. The best thing to do is avoid them as much as possible and find better alternatives they aren't so corporate driven and sexist!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Humans are allowed to make mistakes!. And guess what there is no "vegetarian god" ( though some people seem to think there is) that will punish your for your "sin"
What is curious to me is that you seem to be a type of person who is dependent on others to do your thinking for you!. (Ellen Degeneres "phase"and PETA) Seems like you can't function much without some sort of celebrity or authority figure (real or imagined) giving their approval first!.
Some say or imply "foods that vegetarians are allowed to eat!.!.!." Is there a central vegetarian "authority" that must give their approval first before vegetarians are "allowed" to eat anything and that there is a consequent punishement when this "rule" is broken!? I thought this was a free choice made by people, not some cult like system where a leader controls what can be eaten by who!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
