How can I lose more weight as a vegan?!

Question: How can I lose more weight as a vegan!?
Okay, so, I became a vegan starting April 2008!. And it's great! I ended up losing 15 lbs and now I am 155 lbs!. But!.!.!.I'd still like to lose a little more, because I'm still a tad bit on the overweight side!. You'd think I'd lose a lot more as a vegan, right!? But I didn't!. >< Maybe I just EAT too much, even if they ARE vegetables!! Haha!.

I don't exercise much, but I'm planning to, every day!. And I was thinking about eating only 3/4 of my normal calorie intake!. Will this help me!? What do you think!? If you are a vegan or vegetarian, could you please tell me about your experience with weight loss as well!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Going vegan doesn't automatically make you lose weight!. Let me give you a sample day:
Breakfast: Light rice/soy milk; 1 SERVING of Bran Flakes (take the time to measure things out!. You could end up having 2-3 servings if you're not careful); an orange (or berries, melon, or an apple)!.
Lunch: Vegetable stirfry - 1/5 a cube of light tofu, BROWN rice, plain veggies (nix all the high sodium and caloric sauces and add spices to flavor it); spinach salad sprinkled with seeds (notice I said sprinkled) and sprinkled with cranberries!.
You're eating pretty well, but you need to be careful of serving sizes and processed foods (stay away from white foods: white rice, white bread, white potatoes!. Substitute those for brown rice, whole wheat bread, sweet and red potatoes!.)
Dinner: Burrito - whole wheat tortilla, 1/2-3/4 a cup of black beans, diced tomato, all natural salsa, lettuce; Light fortified orange juice; small spinach salad!.
Aside from food, you HAVE to exercise to lose weight!. Even if it's just a half hour walk, it will help!. I didn't really lose much weight going vegan, but I was already living a really healthy lifestyle, so it didn't make a huge difference!. But before when I first went vegetarian, I did lose a lot of weight, just because I was a couch potato before :)

Just make really healthy choices!. Watch your carbs!. Vegans have a tendency to eat a lot of carbs!. Watch your snacking!. Try to make your snacks healthy!. Nuts and seeds are a good snack!. So are fruits and vegetables!. Your diet sounds okay!. Make sure to drink lots of water to fill you up and get plenty of daily exercise!. I love rice milk!. I use a vegan protein powder as a supplement to my diet and I put it in rice milk!. Delicious!. I get it at the Vitamin Shoppe!. It's a way to get protein without having a lot of fat and calories!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The average calorie intake for a woman is 1940!. If you reduce the amount of calories you take in, or burn off the extra calories by exercising, you will lose weight!. The mantra is, eat less, move more!.

If you decide you reduce how much you eat, make sure you still get all of your nutrients, and just reduce your portion size!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well I'm about your same height and weight, 5'5" 145-150 lbs!. I haven't been very successful in any weight loss for very long!.

Consistency and time are key I guess!.

Eat healthy foods, your plan looks good, don't be tempted to stray from it with junk, cut back sodas & sugary drinks, replace them with water or light juice!.

Exercise some!.

I'm not very successful but I wish you luck anyways!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
