Question: How do I become a healthy vegan on a very cheap diet!?
I'm in College and use a food card!.!.!.although ironically I come from a very privileged upbringing!.!. But anyway,I'm interested in becoming a vegan!. But I've heard that it's so expensive and I'm really just worried about buying a bunch of vegan alternatives and running out of food money before the end the month!.

Oh yes, I am a bif coffee lover and I use Silk Soy Milk anyway!.!.!.so I have no real problem with dairy!.!.!.I'm not really a fan in the first place!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know what cooking you have available to you if you're in a dorm/apartment, but even canned soup and whole grain bread can be a really good lunch!. Buy a bunch of fresh veggies and eat them with hummus for snack, or soy yogurt with some sliced fruit!. also- Luna and Lara bars are vegan and delicious!. :)

It's really not that expensive unless you're spending all your money on specialty products!. The basis of any good diet should be afforable- oats, grains (a rice cooker would be a good investment), soup, veggies, soy milk/yogurt, tofu (if you have a way to cook it)!. None of these things are too expensive, just make sure you're eating enough!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What you should look for are whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and any food made from these items!. I'll make you a sample grocery list!.

Use animal-free versions:
-whole grain bread
-brown rice
-whole wheat pasta
-dried lentils
-canned beans (black, pinto, kidney, etc!.)
-edamame
-tofu
-tempeh
-carrots
-broccoli
-spinach
-onion
-lemon
-tomatoes
-cucumber
-apples
-oranges
-oil (olive, grapeseed, canola)
-nut butter
-margarine
-cereal
-soy sauce
-soy milk

Jennifer McCann, the author and blogger behind "Vegan Lunch Box" ate peanut butter sandwiches for lunch for one whole year in high school!. Kinda boring, but super cheap!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

vegan can actually be cheaper if you're buying a lot of fresh stuff that doesn't come prepackaged!.
veggies, fruits, beans, grains, etc!. are really cheap!.
the only time that being vegan gets expensive is when you buy specialty products and faux meats!.!.!.!.but it can definitely be done on the cheap!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Enjoy the wholesome goodness of carrots!. They are very reasonably priced when purchased in bulk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You might save a lot of money!. My method was to google for the essentials for items like vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, etc and all of their food sources!. From that you can come up with a shopping list!. From all of that, one by product was I designed my own hot cereal that I have 6 to 7 mornings a week!. It has 24 ingredients that I mix up in a large container now and then!. It may turn you into a real nut who builds 100s of bookmarks in your web browser like I did!. Each google search for those items will start you off on other tangents finding more ways to eat healthier!.
I very rarely buy anything from the frozen food aisle or the bread aisle!.

One of the biggest things I have to say about being a vegetarian, do it your way and ignore those who try to label you and confine you to this or that!. Any step you make towards being a vegetarian guarantees that you will live longer and healthier than those around you!.
