Question: I'd like to know how i can become a vegan!?
i'm 27 yrs!. old and i have a hypertension which i believe can still be cured thru correct eating and diet aside from exercise!.I want to be a vegan but i don't know how to start!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey, I am on the same boat as you! Although, I have really high cholesterol and I am only 27! (birth control pills, ugh!!)!. I am actually starting a vegan diet myself which I have tried before and did not succeed in!. So this time I am starting slow, which I found is the best way because before I would try cold-turkey and needless to say it was not successful!. The thing that I am doing is starting by taking out my meats!.!.!.!.try first not to eat any beef, pork,lamb!.!.!.etc!. Try to cut it down to only chicken and fish and start adding more vegetables to your diet!. also start cutting down on dairy products and start choosing dairy free ice creams, almond milk/soy milk and most important start cooking, find recipes that appeal to you and hopefully it will make the transition easier!.

If you are not vegetarian already I'd say start with that, although it is possible to jump straight to vegan but I think it would be a lot simpler to start vegetarian!.
Just cut out all meats, including fish, shrimp, clams!.!. also look for the uses of gelatin and rennet/casein!. Gelatin is grinded up animal bones and found in mushy things like marshmallows, starburst, gummy bears, & poptart frosting!. also rennet and casein are in some cheese, comes from calf stomachs!. Tallow as well!.!. not sure what types of things its in, i think cakes!. (i never knew about that until the last 2 months)
This will help you to look for ingredients before you buy things, which is crucial in becoming vegan!.

Then once you are ready to go vegan cut out cheese, milk, & eggs as well!. And now up the ingredients to look for to : whey, milk fat, egg whites!.!.!. There are a lot of milk/egg products in almost everything it'll seem but then you'll things!.

Start by getting rid of any products you have that contain animal products!.!.!.!.then, when shopping, only get things that say "suitable for vegans" on it!.
