I am a vegan and need to take antibiotics.....?!

Question: I am a vegan and need to take antibiotics!.!.!.!.!.!?
I have a Bladder infection that I need to take antibiotics for!. Someone (not my doctor) told me in order to be healthy again after taking them I have to eat animal products in order to get a good bacteria in my system again!. Is this true!? Are there just things to get extra of!? Should I get a different medication!? also my doctor knows I don't eat animal products!. But, she might be mistaken and think I'm a vegetarian rather than a vegan!.

Thank you : )Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I agree, they probably mean yogurt!. It has probiotics that replenish the good bacteria in your system!. However, this is for your digestive tract, not urinary!. For urinary, cranberry juice or cranberry supplements should work just fine!.

I know that there are probiotic supplements available, you should be able to find them at just about any health food store!. I have no clue if they're vegan though, sorry!.

I'm a vegan and I used to have kidney disease, so I got bladder infections all the time!. You don't need to eat animal products to get better - I took medication while still eating vegan and I am fine now! They said it was going to stick with me for the rest of my life but everytime I went into the Doctor's they said it was getting better and better!. I suggest getting a different medication, or perhaps a new doctor!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, you don't!. it will come back on it's own!. some antibiotics deplete the good bacteria too, and all do to some extent, but most don't in such a way that you need to seek replacement bacteria!. and the only animal product that has this is yogurt with active cultures!. if soy yogurt lists active cultures, then this is perfectly acceptable!. you can also buy probiotic capsules!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

She probably meant yogurt!. Antibiotics kill the beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract so they need to be replaced!. Diarrhea is a common side effect that can be alleviated by eating yogurt!. I know there are soy based yogurts, not sure if they're really vegan, though!. Look for the ones marked "live active culture!." The link below has a good explanation of probiotics!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

thats not true!.
he means yogurt!. basically anything that has 'live active cultures' in it like a type of yeast!.
you don't have to eat yogurt however this isn't mandatory!.

the medication you got was either a zpack (arithromyacin) or another type that i cant remember but this is not required by the medicine its just suggested!.
drink cranberry juice (not cocktail) it'll work the same, or even better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ask your doctor about different supplements for proteins and fiber!. For your calcium intake, I found out about vegetable protein meat substitute on the internet!. EAT FRUIT!!! It has a lot of fiber!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can get milk free pro-biotics at the health food store
