Why do we find it acceptable to drink cow's milk?!
Why is it that we drink cow's milk!? Why not gorilla's milk, horse's milk or dog's milk!? Who decided that drinking the milk of another mammal, that is intended to fatten a 90 lb calf into a 2000 lb cow was a good idea!? Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
The drinking of cow's milk is a fairly recent developement!. Before pasteurization we only consumed the cultured products that we made from cow's milk!. Human history is entertwined with cows and other livestock, mammals included!. We would not have come this far without them, giving credit of course to our forefathers/mothers, veggies, fruits, and grains!. Frugivores sometimes forget about our connection to these creatures and that not every interaction on a farm is violent!. Animal husbandry is a tradition that needs to be kept alive, in a humane way(without hormones, drastic confinement, etc!.!.)!. Cows produce more than enough milk for their calves, as do goats, and we consume the surplus!.
As to why countries that consume cow's milk have higher rates of osteoporosis: Most milk that is intended to be consumed as is, in liquid form, is homogenized!. This process breaks down the fat in the milk so that we can have 2%, nonfat, etc!.!.!.even whole milk is often homogenized and then reassembled, so to speak!. This, along with pasteurization, destroys all of the enzymes in milk, enzymes that hep in the assimilation of nutrients, such as calcium*1 and can cause calcium deposits inside of the arteries*2!. Raw milk contains Lipase to break down butterfat and Lacto-bacillus, the enzyme producing bacteria that aids in the digestion of Lactose!. This bacteria is also present in the breast milk of humans!. Some cultures, mainly those who were not exposed to cows, are more prone to be intolerant of Lactose!. Each culture is different because of how they came to be here now!.

Well, I'm guessing it's because cows (and goats, sheep, and buffalo) produce a lot more milk!. There's enough to "serve" multiple people/animals!. That being said, most animals don't consume the hugely energy-dense stuff (milk) as their sole source of nutrients for their entire growth period!.
In short, it all boils down to energy!. Animals will seek foods that have the highest amount of energy (number of calories) in them!. BAck in the day, I'm sure humans thought, "Wow! There's a lot of fat, sugar, and protein in this! I can drink some and it will give me the energy I need to go search for more food!" Bang for the buck!. It obviously isn't so necessary now, but a long time ago, it really was!.
Oh yeah!. We still do because of habit, I'm sure!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's interesting that there are so many "educated" people in the world that are willing to promote drinking milk because they've been brainwashed!. If you truly think that drinking milk is the answer to nutritional intake, then you wouldn't think it was gross for mothers to nurse their children who are 4, 5, 6, or even 10 years old!.

milk from mammals has been used for drinking for over 3000 years and even in some cave drawings there are depictions of oxen and horses being milked!.as long as mammals have been domesticated humans have been drinking milk!.this includes cattle, oxen, horses, camels and other mammals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well I don't!. It's practically against my religion!. It's wrong to take milk away from ones young for personal benefit!. I realize that it's difficult to survive with out it, but even more so for a calf!. Are we really more valuable than the calf!? Anyways, I read somewhere that milk contains mucus and pus!.!.!. That should be enough to keep us away from the stuff, nevermind my rant!.!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Because a cow produces vast quantities compared to other mammals plus they are docile and fairly easy to raise!. Pound for pound, goats don't produce nearly as much and it's pretty hard to milk a gorilla against her wishes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well, I use soy milk instead!. I've never heard anything about milk being unhealthy before, but I just don't like the idea of it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

no cow said you could drink its milk that it made for its baby!Www@FoodAQ@Com
We can drink many different animals' milk but the cow produces the most so it's most cost effective!. As a bonus all the calves can be used for meat production and some female calves kept for future milk production!. Not only can you get a lot more milk from a cow than a gorilla, it is also a lot safer to obtain!.
I like a tall glass of cold whole milk with my pancakes or PB&J sandwich or to dunk cookies in for a nightime snack!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Please don't assume that a relationship between two facts means there's causality!. Unless you can show me scientific evidence to the contrary, I do not believe that drinking cow's milk causes osteoporosis!. Even if I take your word for it that countries with the highest consumption of milk also have higher rates of osteoporosis (what's your source!?), I would have to think that the cause is not milk consumption but some other factor common to countries that consume milk (my guess would be these are wealthier societies, where people perhaps also do less weight-bearing exercise, for example)!. Unsubstantiated statements like that will not win people over to your way of thinking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
We can eat a cow's meat!. Who says we can't drink it's milk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm going to have very strong bones!.!.!. and from the looks of it, you'll be suffering from osteoporosis!. Good luck with that!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
We drink cows milk because they produce much more of it than other animals!. Cows have ALWAYS produced about 3 times as much milk as what is needed for their calf!. Let me reiterate, they have always made a lot of extra milk, this was not done through selective breeding!. It would simply be wasteful not to use it!.
If you don't like cows milk then fine, but don't get all preachy about it, that's only going assure more people that vegetarians and vegans really are pricks!.
If someone really wanted to drink gorrila, horse, or dog milk, they could, but they produce it in much smaller amounts than any cow would, it's simply not worth it to use those animals for milk!.
Furthermore, without humans, typical dairy farm cows die, they need us, so if we weren't using them for something(meat, dairy, leather)!. They would go extinct, ask any farmer and he will tell you that without him, his cows would die!.
also, those "studies" are fatally flawed because of the fact that so many 3rd world countries rely heavily upon cows because they provide food, shelter, and clothing!. Often times, a few cows and their milk is about the only really sustenance a small village has!. Those people probably have bigger things to worry about than osteoporosis, things, like plagues, revolutions, constant wars, whether or not they will make it to the next day because of lack of food, etc!.
If you took away cows milk do you have any idea what the ramifications would be!? All these hundreds of thousands, possibly MILLIONS of people who rely on cows would die!. You are a very sad individual and i hope that Gods wrath finds you one day!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
