Question: To "semi-vegetarians", "Pesco-vegetarians", "Pollo-vegetarians" and others who claim a vegetarian lifestyle!.!.!?
I want to hear why you call yourself "vegetarian" even though the dictionary does not include your version of vegetarianism as a valid form of vegetarianism!.

I'm not bashing you, I just want to know why you call yourself "vegetarian"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You know the reason: people like classifying themselves!. I'm a Democrat!. I'm a Republican!. I'm a Presbyterian!. I'm a Muslim!. I'm a this!. I'm a that!.

Pseudo-tarians are people who want to be associated with relieving the suffering of animals but aren't actually interested in changing their lifestyle to relieve the suffering of animals!. Some people cut out red meat and pork for health reasons, but those people don't typically try to fit into a vegetarian title!.

There are better ways to reduce the suffering of animals than leaving one or two off your dinner menu!. If it's too hard for them to give up tasty meat, then they can just wear shirts that say they donate to pro-animal causes or something!.

I'm probably going to receive a lot of thumbs down from pseudo-tarians!. I honestly don't care what you do or don't eat, but don't try to associate yourself with a group of people you admire!. That's the same kind of hypocrisy that keeps pedophiles in the clergy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You would ask someone to leave and never return to your club if they ate fish!? See, that's why vegetarians have a hard time influencing people!. I don't think they're all like that, but geez!. People who are really intolerant have a tendency to create enemies!. How about congratulating people for at least reducing their intake of dead animals!. Personally I have never called myself anything but a semi vegetarian, because I ate a bit of fish!. Now I'm eating some meat because I was too low in iron!. You obviously need to go back to eating meat, at least until you educate yourself about how to get a proper balanced and healthy vegetarian diet!. I know it can be done, it just takes a lot more planning and knowledge!. I gained fifteen pounds on a mostly vegetarian diet and didn't start to lose some of it until I started eating some meat again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think people may use the term vegetarian rather than the more specific terms for what they do or don't eat because some people are not familiar with the term and it is easier!. It only becomes a problem when talking to an actual vegetarian, when they admit they do in fact eat fish, or chicken or whatever!.

Aside from that, I think you need to step off your high horse and give pescetarians, etc a break!. I am part of a vegetarian club in a college campus and we would never turn away anyone, I would welcome them and provide them with information that would hopefully let them see the light regarding other types of meat, and maybe even eggs and dairy!. Most people don't just wake up and go, I'm going to be a vegan today!. I was a pescetarian, then a vegetarian, then a vegan, it was gradual as I educated myself about animal rights, factory farms, and the health benefits of an animal-free diet!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think the dictionary has anything to do with it!. There are hundreds of different dictionaries and their contents don't get entered until after years of common use of words!.

On a personal level I don't agree with "pescatarians" using the label of "vegetarian" but my opinions don't really matter!. If the person is comfortable with their decisions then I am happy with that!. Especially since they are eliminating a large portion of the animal cruelty from their diets!. I would like to see them not torture sea animals, but baby-steps, right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Does it really matter what we call ourselves(I'm vegetarian)!? We are all working towards the same goal, to help stop animal suffering!. Not bashing anyone here; but Semi-vegetarians, Pesco-vegetarians, and Pollo-vegetarians may be just as annoying to your lifestyle just as your lifestyle may be annoying to a vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i don't care what you call me!. i base my diet on my convictions considering a couple of factors!. fitting into a category and being able to use a description is not one of them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they're semi-vegetarians!.but i don't think it's really matter if they want to said they're a vegetarians!.it's not like a big matter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because I enjoy sounding pretentiousWww@FoodAQ@Com

It doesn't matter!. There are several types of vegetarians out there!. It really depends on their choice!.

VIVA LA RAZA!Www@FoodAQ@Com

"I want to hear why you call yourself "vegetarian" even though the dictionary does not include your version of vegetarianism as a valid form of vegetarianism!."

if that's not bashing then what is it!? try using a little more tact

anyways, why do you have a problem with people being who they are!?

I hope you don't call yourself a vegetarian, because everyone knows it is IMPOSSIBLE not to eat some type of meat in almost everything, If you eat any proccesed foods you are eating minute amounts of mouse feces, mouse hairs, and insect parts,(look it up, it's regulated by the FDA) so how can 1 claim to be vegetarian or vegan and eat these things!? Well, according to the almighty dictionary you cannot!.

Not to mention the fact that the average person eats 5 spiders per year in their sleep!.

Unless you live in a bubble you are a hypocrite for talking down to these people!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The dictionary does include pescetarians!.

You said it wasn't in a dictionary, it is!.

If you want to use wiki as a reference they do acknowledge pollotarianism and semi vegetarianism!.
