I had a argument with my husband last night!. it went from a conversation to a debate to a argument and us going to bed angry!.
I am a mother of 4!. I recently educated my children as well as my husband about the meat industry and fur farms etc!. They all chose to become vegetarians along with me!. I have always been a animal lover and ate meat on and off for years!. I discovered peta!.!. and decided to never touch meat again!. I also do not support animal made products like leather etc!. i am slowly becoming vegan!.
I have protested for animal rights threw peta, I educate others about the industries and have had some success!. i am going to attend a protest in NYC on Nov 4th for the horse and carriage abuse!. I am for animal rights and cruelty free living!. I will never support a industry like this again!. I would love to become a part of the animal liberation front and have plans to do so if exposed to a horrific situation!. I am prepared to make change for animals just as people had to fight for freedom and rights!. My husband things it's dumb of me to protest and stand up for what i believe in for animals!. i explained if someone did not do this women would not have rights and he would not have rights(he is black)
It takes people to make change and as long as i am not hurting anyone whats his problem!. he thinks I am not putting whats important first!. but my kids do come first and I educate them about these issue's and they participate with me at protest and also educate their friends in school!. Do you see anything wrong with what i am doing!?

I agree with your beliefs, and I think it's great that your family was so willing to go veg with you!. Most people wouldn't be!. I don't think you're doing anything wrong by going to protests & such, but depending on the age of your kids (like, if they're pre-teens), it might be a little inappropriate to take them along!. Protests can get pretty nasty or even dangerous sometimes!. And there are usually people passing by who don't agree with you, maybe shouting back obscene or vulgar things or just plain insults, and younger kids might not understand why people would be so mean and would take it more personally, etc!.
It seems like you're just a typical new veg'an who is overly enthusiastic, and maybe that's what's bothering your husband!. From his point of view it might seem like all of a sudden, animal rights are the only thing that's important to you!. I'm sure that's not the case, but people can be funny like that!.
Now, on to peta & the ALF!.!.!.many vegans/ar activists are against both organizations!. The reasons behind hating peta are usually the fact that they're welfarists, not abolitionists, they exploit women/use sex to "sell" vegetarianism, they spend more money on silly campaigns that don't really go anywhere instead of helping actual animals, they do a lot of idiotic things that further the negative stereotypes people have of us, et cetera!. The ALF can be just plain destructive!. Yes, it's an immediate emancipation of animals in need of it, but the destruction of property & everything is counterproductive!. There are much better, much more peaceful ways to go about effecting change!. If you think about the biggest revolutionaries of our time!.!.!.Gandhi, MLK Jr!., etc!.!.!.!.they never used violence or destruction to make their point!. My personal favorite animal organizations are Action For Animals, Farm Sanctuary (If you live in or near NY or CA, I definitely recommend visiting one of the farms!.), and Compassion Over Killing!.
Lastly, you'll find over time that it doesn't work at all to be preachy with everyone you know or come in contact with!. People just don't respond to that!. It's like when you have religious zealots come knocking on your door!. You don't think "Oh yes, I'll come join you!." It's more like, "Geez, leave me alone!." The best thing is to just be a good example of a happy healthy veg'an, and answer any questions when people seem genuinely interested!. Just ignore the people who want to mock you or be ignorant assholes!. You'd be surprised how effective this can be!.
Oh, and Sarah's movie recommendations are excellent too, especially Earthlings!. Many non-responsive people have a very strong reaction to Earthlings, and at least try to make a change after seeing it!. It's really good, and covers a lot of different issues!. But, be prepared to cry!.!.!.a lot!. :/

It's not worth fighting for, not in the way you are describing how it should be done anyways!. Animal Liberation Front is a TERRORIST organization, blowing up buildings, vandalizing property, and intentionally bullying and hurting people is no way to get what you want!. Now, don't get me wrong, i love animals, well, most animals!. I have a wonderful Black Lab, among many other animals who I love dearly, i would do just about anything for him!. This past summer he hurt his leg, i forked over 1!.5k of my own money for his surgery, i am a college student mind you so 1!.5k to me is A LOT!. Anyways, he's been a great dog, he's always there for me and will never betray me, but do i think i could ever form such a bond with a cow, or chicken!? no, of course not, and i imagine they feel the same way!. I do think it's sad that other animals die so that i can eat them, but that's just the way things work!. Nature is harsh!.
So let me ask you a question!? Do you hate animals like hyeenas, lions, tigers, sharks that rip apart other "cute" animals and eat them them alive and kill them in ways that are soooo much more painful than anything humans do!? You honestly think a gazzelle would rather be slowly eaten alive, left to inefficiently bleed out alive rather than be quickly put to death by slitting it's throat or shooting it!? I understand where your coming from, but your compassion is wayyy off base!.
You need to stop comparing animals to people, they are NOT entitled to the same rights as us!. period!. I think they should be treated humanely, but they are not on our level and for you to think that is just ignorant!.
They are entitled to the same rights as me when they can learn to drive a car, read, write, talk, etc!. Animals are animals and you should not think of them as our equals!. The fact that you seem to believe that tells me that you have something psychologically wrong with you!.

Furthermore, how are coach horses being abused!? They get all the food they could ever want, shelter, clothing, veterinarian care, what more could a horse want!?
